A lot is happening on the Gulshan Kumar biopic front. After Akshay Kumar walked out of the project citing differences over the script, reports suggests Ranbir Kapoor may have stepped in. According to a report in DNA, Aamir Khan, who is now a co-producer in the film, has offered it to the Sanju actor. The film titled Mogul will be T-Series' production.

A DNA report quoted Bhushan Kumar, head of T Series, saying, "We haven't finalised the lead, but we will have a younger star in the film. However, Ranbir seems to be the ideal choice for both Bhushan and Aamir.

Post the success of Sanjay Dutt biopic Sanju, Ranbir's market worth has certainly gone up. The report said Bhushan was keen on getting Ranbir onboard as he was a good actor. They have discussed the idea with him but a decision is yet to be reached.

Originally meant to be made with Akshay (a first poster too had been released), the film came to a grinding halt after the actor returned the signing amount with a thank you note. Soon after Aamir came in as one of its producers and got writer-director Subhash Kapoor to redo the script to his satisfaction.

Confirming his departure from Mogul, Akshay had earlier said: "No I am not part of it. I am not doing it. He added, "Script pe humari thodi baat... (We did not agree on the script).

Apparently, Ranbir and Aamir share a warm relationship. They met and Aamir is said to have cajoled Ranbir to take up the project.

Who was Gulshan Kumar?

Born Gulshan Dua, Gulshan Kumar was the son of a juice seller in Delhi's Darya Ganj. He got interested in music business after his family acquired a shop selling records and cheap audio cassettes. He started his own audio cassette company called "Super Cassettes Industries in Delhi. Once his business became profitable, he moved to Mumbai and set up T Series.

Gulshan also produced a number of films including Lal Dupatta Malmal Ka (1989), Aashiqui (1990), Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin, Meera Ka Mohan, and Jeena Marna Tere Sang. In August 1997, he was murdered in broad daylight in front of a temple close to his residence in Lokhandwala Estate.

If he is signed on for this then he will have another powerful producer after Kjo who will back him blindly all the time. Great move if true.
