Thespian Dilip Kumar's ill health has delayed the government's plans to honour him, singing legend Lata Mangeshkar, Bengali director Tapan Sinha and south Indian actress B. Saroja Devi. "Dilip Kumar is not keeping well, so he is not able to come to Delhi. We will have the ceremony whenever he is fit enough to travel," said Neelam Kapur, additional director general of the Directorate of Film Festivals. The information and broadcasting ministry has chosen the four artists for lifetime achievement awards for their contribution to Indian cinema.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi had announced the honours at the opening ceremony of the 38th International Film Festival Of India (IFFI). He said the ministry had decided to honour film artists and technicians for their contribution to the industry in view of the 60th anniversary of India's independence. Referring to the National Awards, Kapur said: "After a week or so we will start calling the entries for the 2006 films. And then the announcement will be made after two or three months."

Congrats to Kannadathu payankili, well deserved award👏👏

I started to mislike this yesteryears actress when she joined the other kannadaga actor/actress and were against to open kaveri river to Tamil nadu, that state where she earned alot of money and was a heart throb of many mill tamil people

FINALLY they are beginning to recognise that south india is also a part of india!!!

having said that, it is bad enough that the politicians make such a big deal about national rivers...to have the movie stars joining them..it just inflames hatred. i wish she would stop that!

I know Jas, finally...they always ignore the south states or whenever major things happens in north they make it like a big issue, but not if its something in south.

i never liked saroja devi, her overracting or her transparent saree blouses anyway. she always used to irritate the hell out of me especially in her film with MGR. god.. so irritating!😡😡

now that i got to hear she tried to bite the hand that fed her by going against the TN government & joining the rest of her fellow kannada people in not opening the kaveri river, god.. i dislike her even more!😡😡 how much money has she made in kollywood? i bet she wouldn't have been half as successful in her own language.

it's stupid stars like this that mar the name of movie stars as a whole.
