After the unprecedented success of Indian Idol and Fame Gurukul, Sony has decided to do something new altogether. It is now coming up with a show called Dus Ke Dus Le Gaye Dil. The show will feature contestants who made it to the finals on both Fame Gurukul and Indian Idol. Immensely talented participants, who came from all over the country, participated well but couldn't win the coveted title are being given a second chance.
The Dus Ke Dus... candidates, ready to croon their arts out are Prajakta Shukre, Aditi Paul, Harish Moyal, Rahul Saxena, Ravinder Ravi, Arpita Mukherjee, Shamit Tyagi, Arijit Singh, Mona Bhatt and Anubhav Suman. The show goes on air from November 4 every evening at 8.30 p.m till November 18.
Tarun Katial, Sony's business head says, "The idea is to re-package the popular faces and voices in a new experience. We at Sony are definitely into reality music contests. Besides Indian Idol 2 which will be a bi-weekly, we're gearing up for our big game show Deal Ya No Deal, also a bi-weekly, which goes on air on November 23."
What about launching a new soap? It's been long since the channel has come up with a new show. "Sony is certainly going easy on television soaps. But it isn't that we're completely off it. In fact, our new daily Ek Ladki Anjani Si is going on air from November 4."
Talking about Dus Ke Dus... he says that the idea is to give the contestants a second chance. "They couldn't make it earlier but were certainly promising," says Katial. He adds, "They are going to compete with each other. The concept remains the same, whoever gets the maximum votes stays and the one with least number of votes gets out. The amount of money that they generate through the votes goes to Prime Minister's Relief Fund."
Another striking aspect of the show is that it will be hosted by Mandira Bedi and Mini Mathur. Both will be seen together for the first time.
"Dus Ke Dus... is show for a good cause," Katial says matter-of-factly. The man says that they are expecting a fabulous response for it as it brings back the junta's favourite singer celebrities. The anchors of the show - Mandira and Mini will be all decked up in designer saris and exquisite jewellery.
