It is more mythical than historical! The show Chanakya from the 1990s is wayyy better depiction of King Porus n Alexander and ofcourse the brilliant Chankaya! 👏

That is the gold standard for serials dealing with the pre-Mauryan and early Mauryan periods. But then the lead character there was Chanakya! It was so richly detailed and so authentic in terms of the sets and the period feel. Even for a side role like Bhadrasaal they had Irfan Khan!

No, they won't show Porus defeating Alexander - who by now looks ready to walk on water!😉- because, much as I am sure they would like to, they cannot let the High Priestess of Delphi's (WHY do they have even Olympias and Alexander calling her the Oracle? The Oracle was the voice of Apollo speaking thru her) prophecy that Alexander is naakaabile shikast, invincible on the battlefield, be proved wrong. That is an iron rule for our serials. No jytoishi's predication can go wrong! Then there is Chanakya's dark hint as well, that the next occasion might not be favourable for Porus.

As for the battle of Hydaspes, Alexander chose a rainy day for the crossing after executing a series of fake manoeuvres to mislead Porus, precisely because the elephants would get stuck in the mud. His crossing of the Jhelum was a brilliant master stroke, and took Porus completely unawares.

What I am wondering about is how they are going to show the Sony Porus and the Sony Alexander, after all the nonsense that has been dumped on them, becoming not just friends but allies.
