What is love if not a twist of fate? Anika and Shivaay don't believe in love or rather don't believe that they can ever fall in love and voila life takes a turn and both realize that their love is inevitable. Omkara and Gauri are complete opposites, he who sees the world in a haze of pain and she who changes the world with her smile. Will Gauri ever be able to return Om's smile? And will Om ever be able to teach Gauri the depth of true love? Rudra and Soumya are best friends and worst enemies, they fight constantly but can't live without each other for even a second. Will Rudra realize what Saumya means to him? And will Saumya fight for her love?
When Shivaay and Anika meet, there are instant fireworks with a cold splash of reality check. It could never happen between them, he stuck on his Naam, Khoon and Khandaan and she on her self-respect and integrity. Their backgrounds are different, their upbringing is different and yet they are eerily same. Family, namely their siblings are the pillars on which their life stands, both have strong work ethic and both can do anything, literally anything to save their family izzat. Gauri and Om are not even supposed to meet. Not really because the love of Om's life is Ishana not Gauri who works for Ishana. And it is Ishana's untimely death that ultimately brings the two together as they work to solve the mystery and unveil many razz of the Oberoi clan and the squeaky clean -on -surface -but -rat -dirty-beneath business families and Bollywood. And between the sleuthing, and thrill of danger which always makes passion ignite, sparks do fly between them albeit slowly. And reluctantly. Poor Soumya. Before making her place in Rudra's life she has to contend with not one, but two imposters. First is Romi, a gorgeous bombshell with flawless skin and size zero frame. She unleashes her psychopathic tendencies on Rudy who cowers poor Soumya as she has to save him. And then it's Bhavya who enters Rudra's life with a secret motive (she is a IPS officer also nose diving for secrets) as she masquerades as a damsal in distress and Rudra becomes her hero. Only it's Soumya's turn again to save Rudra and make him realize that he is not a hero. Instead he is someone who needs to be saved. And lastly there is also the budding romance between the timid Oberoi Princess Priyanka and dashing ACP Ranveer Singh Randhawa (Anika and Gauri's rakhi brother) where the former learns to carve her own identity and the latter learns how to cherish true love.
Character Sketch:
1. Anika Trivedi: Anika had the perfect childhood. Not the childhood where her every whim and fancy was taken care of and she had a princess room with every teddy imaginable, no the childhood where she was the apple of her parents' eyes, where she actually dreamed and fantasized and where she had no worries. Her family was perfect with her parents and little sister Gauri and years later it was complete with baby Sahil. But as unblemished her childhood was, her adulthood was even harder. An orphan left to the mercy of the cruel, cruel world with the responsibility of two siblings changed Anika. Overnight she became a headstrong, no-nonsense savvy girl who cooked, cleaned, raised her siblings while studying every spare minute to secure her family a bright future. Before she was an unambitious girl, who was sheltered and naive and now she learned to deal with the world and who and what to trust. Her dreaminess was replaced by her practicality and all she cared about was her family's security and respect in society. She has a great bond with Mrs. Randhawa (Ranveer's mother: Kamini Aunty) who has been her neighbor for over 20 years and was one of her mother's best friends. She would take care of Sahil when Anika and Gauri are out to work and she would give Anika solid advice about career and life in general. Anika's jaan is Sahil (pretty much the same as in show, more mellow and clingy) who she raised like a son. For Sahil Anika is his mom and dad as he was only a baby when they died. Anika also shares an amazing bond with Gauri though they do fight sometimes when Anika is overprotective and when Gauri wants Anika to do something for herself and not others. Anika has cleared CA exam on first try and is 24 along with obtaining her B-Com degree in University of Mumbai which is where she meets and befriends Priyanka Oberoi. She was in the process of getting a job and she had applied to Oberoi Industries (she had no idea it was linked to Priyanka in any way) where she gets a well paying job in the accounting/finance department where she is to be mentored. That's where she realizes Shivaay Oberoi is to her boss. Anika does not believe in love because she doesn't think anyone will accept her and her responsibilities( she's too used to fighting on her own) and she cannot give up on her siblings.
2. Gauri Trivedi: Gauri is the cool, bindaas sister. Gauri is street smart and passionate about her job as she works as a makeup artist. Gauri has been working as one since she has been 16 and her work was recognized by a celebrity when she turned 18. Soon after she met Ishana( Bollywood actress and Om's love) and worked for exclusively until her death. Right now she is only 22. Gauri is a fighter as she is willing to fight for her dream which is to become the best makeup artist. She loves beauty and loves the movie and fashion industry. Even though her work is not well respected (a major point of contention between Anika and Gauri) she is willing to strive hard for it. Gauri is very individualistic as she is very close to her siblings she is more like everyone should do their own thing and be happy in that. She is very optimistic as she believes the world is oyster and setbacks normally do not disturb her. She has a unique bond with Ishana and that's why she is very disturbed after her death. Later she suspects it to be a murder and she teams with Om to solve the mystery.
3. Soumya Mathur: Soumya is slightly plump, a complete foodie, a cheerful, logical girl who is studying psychology. Soumya who thought of herself as completely impervious to cool cats like Rudra finds herself falling for him when she discovers his sweet, childish side. At the same time she knows or at least she thinks she knows that she is not Rudra's type. She doesn't take his breath away. So she does what any smart girl in her situation do, fall out of love. And when that doesn't work find someone else. In her journey Soumya realizes who she has a person and what she really wants in her life. She must also decide if Rudra is worthy enough of that.
4. Shivaay Singh Oberoi: The blue-eyed scion of the Oberoi family, Shivaay is a prince. At least to his family he is the crown prince as he deals with his family's and company's responsibilities and expectations. Especially the expectations of his mother who has dreamed and envisioned a fairy-tale wedding for him complete with a princess or near the pedigree of the princess with the Naam, Khoon and Khandaan that would only enrich the Oberoi naam, khoon and khandaan. His upbringing and nature has made him a perfectionist and he hates flaws in others. It is when life shows him his own flaws will he realize the value of true love (he is very much the same as in show minus the OTT drama like throwing phones all the time and breaking stuff, irl he would need some serious therapy).
5. Omkara Singh Oberoi: Pretty similar to the show except here he is heartbroken because of Ishana's death. Before Ishana he was a drug addict but he promised her to never consume drugs so he has been clean ever since. He has become even more melancholy and lonely after Ishana's death though he has his siblings' support. He was instantly attracted to Gauri but felt guilty and pushed her away before accepting her help to find Ishana's killer. His first suspect is his own father Tej Singh Oberoi who he hates even more so since before. Gauri helps him redirect his pain in his heart and he slowly accepts his love for her while he heals. As they are solving the mystery, they encounter more puzzles like Svetlana's role in the whole thing (Tej's mistress) etc. Gauri's relationship with Omkara inspires him to help his mom Jhanvi Oberoi who goes to rehab for alcohol addiction and decided to start a new life with a business venture.
6. Rudra Singh Oberoi:The most confused/lost of the Obros, Rudra aspires to be hero believing he already has the requirements for it; his good looks and excellent physique. Rudra is a ladies' man but after his experience with Romi and being played by Bhavya he realizes Soumya's place in his life for she is the only one who is always there for him. His relationship with Soumya helps him grow and reach maturity and he lets go off his baggage to become the best possible version of himself.
These are the main characters, other characters adapted from the show are pretty much the same with a few changes like Pinky-Shivaay's bond being much stronger in this story, there will be Tia Kapoor but she is only a cameo and a positive one, the story will also focus on the elder Oberois and their marriages, there is lot of mystery involved in this story and there is no direct link between the Trivedis and Oberois. There will be bunch of cameos introduced to serve as plot devices. Priyanka and Ranveer's story is not integral to the central plot, it will be very much a side story that may or may not be expanded later.
Prologue
"Mumma! Mumma, I wish I look like that on my wedding day!" Anika exclaims to her mother after watching the dazzling bride exchange the rose garland with her groom. She was out with her parents to someone's wedding and her nine year old eyes soaked everything; the riotous burst of color, the mouthwatering scent of shaadi ka khaana and energetic beats of the drum. But what had made her gasp and really relish the wedding was the bride, she looking like an Indian barbie with her heavy red and gold lehenga and twinkling eyes. There was such joy on her face that it bewitched little Anika who impulsively wished "Oh God! Please make my wedding like this!".
If only she had known, Anika thought bitterly that the ambience of the wedding, the dress, the jewellery, nothing mattered in marriage. Why did she have to make such a wish? Anika was dressed in a red and gold lehenga, just like that bride though hers must be 10 times or 20 times more expensive. Who knows? She was laden with diamonds and emeralds and her makeup was done professionally by a team for the pictures to be displayed in thousands of newspapers and magazines and news channels. Gauri had her own team as she was to be the Pippa to Anika's Kate Middleton (the wedding planner's own words not Anika's) while Sahil was be the one to escort her to her groom. The wedding had been billed as the wedding of the decade, a fairytale ending for the lovebirds Shivaay and Anika who had met two months ago and fallen passionately in love. It made Anika snort as she thought about the gossipy headlines. "Yeah right, Stone Singh Oberoi falling in love?" Thinking about Shivaay inevitably made Anika angry and so she counted from 100 backwards (it took her that much time!) while taking deep breaths. She couldn't afford to lose her emotions not now, when she has to give an Oscar-worth performance tonight. After all she needs to do this. So what if her kismet cheated her and landed her with that awful Stone Singh Oberoi? 'She will just have to chin up', she told herself optimistically though every cell in her body rebelled against the idea. But she had simply no choice. Her fate was sealed from the first moment she met Shivaay.
