I too love him even more, though I didn't think that was possible.
The close up was really lovely as he opened his eyes and you could see the light reflecting in his green irises. Beautifully shot against the backdrop of the river.
Pretty obvious that the waking up scene and those after that were performed by Rohit with his broken foot. They never show his right foot and his wet hair look is similar to what we've seen in his instagram photos. Speaking of which, I've missed seeing Alexander with wet hair. I don't think we've had one of those scenes since the hammaam one, right?
There were some smaller details in the scene that I loved, like the fact that Alexander also takes a few seconds to give Hephaestion a reassuring look without any words but doesn't take help from Hephaestion to get up, and that he turns right away to reassure his army of him being alive and well.
There was one soldier who was literally shown breathing sigh of relief. His men cared so much for their leader, it shows you how much Alexander and his men were a part of each others' lives. And it is this reason later on as well that compelled Alexander to comply with their request to go back home, instead of forcing them to fight by hook or crook. Yes, they mutinied but we know Alexander was smart enough to have turned things around in his favor. He realized that he needed to be considerate towards the men who went to the ends of the earth to fight for him, who were his extended family. As Alexander had said to the Farsi soldiers he wanted to enlist in his army: they were know his responsibility and a part of his life.
I was glad to hear Alexander refer to himself as Alexander once again, instead of Sikander. However, I too wish he would stop calling himself Zeus ka beta, even though he uses this to shore up his own self-confidence as well as that of the army.
I think now, he also feels a sense of achievement that his muqaddar couldn't destroy him and that the Priestess was wrong about Puru being able to stop Sikander. He knows that he nearly died and how that would affect his men, so he doesn't waste time and begins reminding them of his superior abilities and divinity. I wonder how Ambhikumar will feel after having seen this. Will he finally be convinced to side with Alexander or will he just cave in because he too believes Puru is dead?
I think Cleitus disapproves of Alexander saying that he will never die, because that is not true. Maybe he is also starting to get tired of what he thinks is Alexander's recklessness, always pushing too hard and ending up in such situations that endanger the men as well. He is still loyal to Alexander but can see him already on the path of self-destruction, as the real Cleitus must have done. I wonder if Alexander notice that he was a bit late to raising his sword along with the men. The actor at least said it all with his facial expressions. I hope the guy gets a couple of lines at least - they can't just kill him off.
There's one thing I don't understand. Why was Alexander looking at Roxanne like that? Was it because he was glad to see the faces of the two people he loved most when he woke up and that she was standing right in front of him? Or was it because he felt that she looked like she started caring for him? His eyes were searching her face, with a certain sense of achievement, as though he were pleasantly surprised to see her having some sort of feeling about his condition. Or maybe he was just happy to be alive so that he can continue to be with Roxanne? Rohit's expressions were fabulous in that scene - his eyes said so many things both to Hephaestion and to Roxanne.
I find it hard to believe Roxanne just fell in love with him because he nearly drowned chasing after Puru. She didn't seem anywhere near as frantic as Hephaestion. I hope at least now she understands why he is Sikander and shows him some respect. đĄ
So my guess was right, that Puru was faking his death. Now it remains to be seen if Alexander is convinced of it. If he were using his brain he would still be cautious but with this show, who knows. Also, it looks like this show isn't ending as soon as I thought, especially since Puru is now finally talking about being battle-ready. I am still waiting to see what lesson Alexander learned from Chanakya about the cloth and the thread and how he will apply it. I hope we're gonna see more of Bamni-Puru interactions as a parallel to the Ambhiraj-kumar ones.
