Divyanka Tripathi is one of the most popular Television actors. Since 2013, she is ruling hearts as Ishita in the show Ye Hai Mohabbatein.
The actor enjoys a huge fan following and she is one of the top and highest paid actors in the television industry.
Divyanka made her debut in 2006 with the show Banoo Main Teri Dulhan. She later went on to act in comedy shows like Mrs. & Mr. Sharma Allahabadwale and Chintu Chinki Aur Ek Badi Si Love Story.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Divyanka Tripathi said that comedy shows on TV don't get the credit.
She stated, "There are many comedy shows on television today, but in India, they don't give credit to comedy shows. I was part of two very comedy successful shows in 2010 and 2011, but when I returned to TV after a hiatus, all people could remember was my debut show, Banoo Main Teri Dulhann. I kept correcting people and telling them that I had done other shows as well. But I have to say, that was not fair. I can't imagine how actors who do comedy roles on a regular basis would be feeling."
She even shared her experience of being a part of comedy shows she has earlier worked in, "It is really tough to do comedy. But once you have done comedy, playing a dramatic or romantic role, or doing a thriller is a cake walk. You become a pro with spontaneity and timing while doing comedy. It teaches you so much about acting and nuance. I salute all the comic actors who go unnamed or don't get their due. I feel they are actually playing an important part on Indian TV and upping the level (of acting)."

I agree... It's very difficult to make a mark in comedy. Thanks to SAB at least comedy has its own channel and there are a few shows which has been able to leave it's mark. Eg : TMKOC.

I haven't heard about CHintu chinki but I did see a few episodes of Mr & Mrs Allahabad wale as it came in SAB. I dunno about its success but at least I did not enjoy the show much.

Not true. At least, NOW.
Dekh Bhai Dekh, Hum Panch, Just Mohabbat. Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, Khichdi, Tu Tu Main etc were big commercial success that ran for many seasons and have cult following. Tarak Mehta has been running for over 10 years but still always remains on top 5. It is content and comic timing that matter.

Comedian Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover are no less than film stars. Kapil earned 40 crore last year, Sunil 15 crore, Ali, Krushna, Kiku and Bharti around 5 crore. This is the best time for India comedy, it has become an industry on its own right now.

Comedy shows has their own credit. People love comedy shows as much as DRAMAtic shows...shows like bhabhi ji , TMKOC, khichri, sarabhai...all are top shows and the actors are equally famous...its just story and acting which attracts the viewers...not drama...
