VDW vs SKTKS vs Hitchki vs others whose success was most surprising?

Hitchki: A movie not massy enough with an deglamed actress returning from her mummy hood, who never really enjoyed the male fan following like the superstars Madz or Sri, still have a clean hit with her movies being appreciated by many.

102 Not Out: An off track movie about old men struggle, and not much buzz went to become a successful venture.

VDW: Despite getting negative response from majority of orthodox audience of India, the movie still went on to be a successful venture despite having two married actress, other two not so famous actors and without any male star. SKTKS: While the songs of the movies became super popular still nobody predicted that the movie would go on to gross over 100crores despite having a relatively unknown star cast.

Raazi: While there were little to no doubt that movie would be a hit, but 100 crores was not imagined by anyone and the Meghna Gulzar movie went on to win not only the critics but also the audience in such an overwhelming way even freaking Shaitan Haiwan is on Alia's bandwagon.😆


[NOTE: I still haven't watched 102, while VDW well due to curfew my plans got cancelled]

I was surprised that VDW did well. I already knew I'd watch and probably like the movie too, but I'm more than ok with the content in it. I didn't think the Indian public would go to watch it though, but I am glad they did!

Hichki- Knew this movie would be good and would get good WOM/critical praise and Rani is a good actress and she doesn't do stupid movies anymore so that was a plus. But like you said, wasnt really a massy film with no major star so I wasnt sure if people would go out, but Im glad it did well!

what about Raazi, SKTKS and 102 NO?

yeah forget about Parmanu, despite lukewarm publicity it did well at BO.

What are your thoughts on SKTKS, 102 NO, Hitchki and Raazi, doing much more than expected?

Not success but i didnt understand why did people give sktks a 6 crore opening?
