Chapter - 14
~ Haunting past
"Taaniya...my darling daughter ... be ready to lose your everything this time... Everything!"
~
"No...No... nnoothingg will haapppen .. notthing.."she shook her head left and right in sleep as those words on the phone call and that evil laugh reverberated in her mind again and again even when she was asleep.
Rey who was sitting on the couch rush to her immediately.
"Taaniii...Taaniii .. wake up!," Rey patted her cheeks.
"NOOO..." she woke up sweating and crying profusely.
"Rey, You...You okay?" She hugged him taking a breath of relief. He hugged her back rocking her back and forth assuring her that everything was fine.
She closed her eyes while hugging him tight as tear droplets slid from her closed eyes and her heart whispered prayers for his and everyone's safety.
"Sweetheart don't worry! Everything is fine...I .. I.. llo.. I am there for you always forever and ever."
She calmed after sometime and broke the hug umwontedly. Rey gave her a glass of water and later told her that he brought her to his home only and called the doctor there only. Rey also told her that she need not worry as no one knew about her being shot and he had somehow convinced swayam to let her stay with him that night.
"Okay Thanks, Rey. But I need to go now. Its really urgent." She tried to go then removing the quilt but Rey held her wrist glaring her,
"Have you gone mad or what? You were freaking shot and you need rest, damn it. But no, madam has to go..."
"Rey please try and understand I am fine!"
"You are not going to listen me anyway, right taani? So its waste arguing with you. You have to go na, go then..." he got up from the bed leaving space for her to go but tears in his eyes didn't go unnoticed by taani.
Taani felt helpless. She tried to get up with a jerk but pain shot through her arm making her wince.
"Aah.." she sat back. "DAMN IT."She thought closing her eyes. Rey was immediately by her side throwing daggers at her for always being so careless.
"I am fine..." she whispered watching him intently as he held her arm whilst his eyes were depicting her pain.
"I can see that very well!" She lowered her eyes and pouted getting under the blanket like a student who was trying to hide after doing some mistake and getting scolded for the same.
Rey had a hard time controlling his smile seeing her adorable pouty face.
"No one can even stay angry at such cute baby doll," she gave an embarassed smile.
"Now I am going to get you some food and medicines till you stay here, Miss Taani Shikhawat. It will be good if you don't try anymore stunt at this late hour else I will be forced to call your brother right now!" She just gaped at him while he left with a smile shaking his head.
Only he knew how worried he was when she got unconscious and how his heart came in hands realizing she was shot. Every second was like a walk on fire after that till the doctor assured him that she is fine and the wound is not much deep but it will still take at least a week to heal. He literally thanked krishna ji for saving his taani. Many questions were there but he knew it was not the right time to ask as her health comes first and she needed to have something to have her medicines so he started preparing soup for her as instructed by the doctor.
On the other side she was lost in her thoughts remembering her visit to the graveyard...
"Ammmaaa," she caressed the mud over the grave still feeling the warmth of love and blessings in it. Tears filled her eyes automatically remembering the day she lost her.
"Though you were my nanny but still you always treated me like your own daughter. I can never forget that I owe every breath of my life to you as much as to my real mother. That day you saved me from that monster sacrificing your own life for a little 8 year old girl..but that same girl needs you now to save herself and her loved ones once again from that monster.."she kept her head on that grave whilst crying.
"I need you amma, I need you. I so wish you were here... That monster is back from jail after 12 years ... I don't know how to save my loved ones from him. Please show me a way... Please,"she sobbed,"I can' t lose them... I can't...Please give me strength... Show me some way .." her phone beeped bringing her back. She wiped her tears and checked her ph. There was a message of some location.
"Thank you amma, Thank you so much! Please keep blessing me always. I promise you, your Taani wont let anything happen to anyone. I won't let him win. Just be with me." She kissed the grave and left after caressing it for one last time...

"I will fulfill the promise I made!"she thought with a determination in her heart.
"Think taani, Think! MUMBAI but Where? Where could it be in Mumbai?" She closed her eyes frustratingly unable to get the answer or clue.
Meanwhile Rey came with a tray of soup but wondered what's wrong that she was tensed again.
"Here madam, A very healthy and tasty soup for you." She shot him glares frustrated over something.
"Stop glaring and start!" He kept it in front of her on the bed.
"Rey, I don't want to have this, please."
"Taani, You have to have this!" He tried to feed her but she just shrug away the spoon making it fell on him.
"Hey krishna ji, sorry Rey, very sorry..." Tears filled her eyes realizing it was hot. She wiped his hand caressing it soothingly and blowing air on it. Rey kept watching her intently.
"You are the one who gives me pain and you are the one to heal," he whispered as his eyes locked with hers. He raised his hand and tucked the strand of hair behind her ear. She lowered her eyes on her own feeling the warmth of love. He came forward and gently kissed her forehead whilst she closed her eyes absorbing the feel of his love and care.
She opened her teary eyes and looked in his only to feel like getting lost in it.
"Please have it!" He whispered and again forward another spoon full of soup. She had it without saying anything.
He fed her soup in silence and then gave her medicines.
"Please take rest taani. Tomorrow is a big day for St. Louis." He left to keep the bowl in the kitchen but his words kept reverbrating in her mind especially "St. Louis"
Tears streamed down her eyes yet again as a big realization hit her.
Somehow she got up holding her arm and screamed,"Rey"
He came running to her shocked that what happened all of a sudden.
"Taani... sweetheart what happened?" He asked cupping her cheeks.
"Reyyy Reyy do you have college map by any chance?"she asked in a broken voice trying her best to control herself. Rey looked at her confusedly.
"What ? College map ? Why suddenly?"
"Please dont ask any questions and get me the damn map if you have.. please.. " he brought it from some renovation file thinking it might be urgent if she is reacting that way.
She held it with shivering hands and sat down on the bed with at thud realizing it was the same map she saw there where she went after graveyard.
"Taani... Taani... what happened? Why are you crying? Hua kya hai? Tell me something, damn it!" He asked cupping her cheeks.
She removed his hands and got up searching for her bag and phone with an paining arm
"Rey, Can you please leave me alone for sometime?"
"No! I won't not now, not ever!" She looked away from his eyes, "I am leaving then!"
"Okay fine, you stay here. I am going in this hall. But for heaven sake please sit down and take care of your arm."
He left and she dialled his best friend's number who was in the police force.
"Arjun, I have got his next location and its... Its St. Louis."
"WHAT? Are you sure, Taani?"
"Yes...I want you to arrange the best security and... weapons because I know there is no way that we could keep the college close tomorrow. No one is going to take this seriously as I am no police officer or agent..Higher authorities would never believe it without a solid proof."
"Yes.. You have a point. But Don't worry I will arrange the best of the best security and weapons. I would have been there too unless I have not been out for this other big case..."
"Its okay. I will handle... hopefully!" She crossed her fingers looking above relying all her hopes on krishna ji.
She cut the call after discussing some other things.
She sat down sighing wondering what tomorrow has in store for her. Tears still consumed her eyes alongwith the fears but then there was her will too to save everyone somehow.
Sleep took over due to medicines' effect as she laid down on the bed. Rey fell asleep too on the sofa in the living room as tiredness, exhaustion and pain took over him.

"Boss, That mystery angel escaped this time too after blasting our 'adda' completely. Though we shot her on the arm and tried to ran a truck over her but still someone saved her. Don't know how she gets to know about our location always..."
"Damn it.."
"There is one more bad news boss. That b**** got some info about our next plan..." he couldn't complete as he was shot by his own boss...

This story is turning out completely different than I imagined at the starting. But I really hope that you all like its twists and turns. Sorry if not. I am trying my best to end it asap. If you don't want to read it at all then just tell me I will discontinue it right away...
But whatever it is do tell me in your comments so that i could knw whether to continue it further or not..Thank you :)
