Hi Aunty, I've read, liked, and replied to your post on the other thread regarding the episode count. I am going to stop thinking about what ifs or it'll drive me crazy.
I just finished watching today's episode (yes, I know, a little late to the party). We all hate what Kanishk did but I kind of sympathized with everything he said. The way he finally sat on the throne was actually quite awesome, though may be viewed as unethical. But let's not forget these kinds of coups were normal back in the days. At least he didn't have his father and Anusuya killed. Bamni's soul has been fractured by his son's betrayal and I don't think he will be able to rule as a king anymore even after Puru restores his power. It would make sense if Bamni abdicates once Puru is back, but let's see. What will they do with Kanishk? I can't imagine that Puru would kill him but what else than to lock him up so that Anusuya can free him again when Alexander arrives. 😆
I felt exactly the same as you about Kanishka. He had very moving lines, and he delivered them with the surging anguish he has been feeling all these months. Yes, he was not a good guy when he was the yuvaraj, but the resentment and the sense of deprivation that eat away at him are genuine. I loved the way in which he stumped Bamni when he was talking of Puru being the elder of the two. I agree that Bamni will never recover from this psychological shock of learning what his younger son was actually feeling.
Anusuya is more senstive; she was worried about just this when Bamni tells her that Puru will be the yuvaraj. Her reactions yesterday were beautiful to behold, so muted and so sad. And the background music was very well done as well, especially in the beginning.
As for the Pauravengers, at least the reason for them being able to escape through the hidden path was sort of acceptable but I don't see how and when Barsine got a chance to tell Puru about it.
A clear goof up, but what is one more amidst so many?
And the extent of damage seems unbelievable. Did you notice that they did not mention the Persian dead at all? Probably they used special bombs that damage only Macedonian supplies, kill Macedonian soldiers and burn Macedonian horses. The last was awful.😡 And where do the bombs come from anyway?
The writer's are getting sloppy with dialogues - Puru's using more Urdu words and Alexander said "janm" - it was jarring! 😡 I am quite picky about this sort of thing, especially as they've managed to keep the distinction in the show so far between the Macedonion/Persian speech and the ones from Bharat. 😆
So am I, particular, I mean, and I agree with you completely on this.
The CVs didn't disappoint with the Vishuddhi scene, though I wish the rest of the Pauravengers had witnessed it. Or perhaps it's better they don't know this about Alexander, who tells people about his immunity to poison and then kills them of course so that they can't spread the word. So am I to now believe that his blood is too poisonous even for Vishuddhi? 😆 Anyway, I'd been waiting for this scene as it was Vishuddhi's niyati. Thanks CVs for small mercies!
Alexander asking Barsine if she was in love with Puru. 😆 This is the first time he's talked about romantic love and to me it just seemed a little odd that he should refer to it there and then. I think it's interesting he picked up on it because he probably thinks that she went from being doe eyed to actually meeting him in the eye, once she was emboldened by having Puru around. As for why she showed caring for Puru, tsk tsk Alexander, of course she would care about her rescuer. She's the one who sent him a message asking for help. 😉 And now that he shamed them into staying back and she took a stand to be there for the people, he's probably going to see more of her with her chin up. He chided her the previous day for not looking into a Shah's eyes and now he's going to see her look him in the eye in defiance more and more. Thank God Barsine grew a spine, though we're about to discover how long that lasts. 😆
I find it tough to care about any part of Barsine's physical apparatus.
I guess we are being prepped for Roxana's entry in his life, though it's beyond me how he can get romantic when all he's thinking about is wanting to get to India to teach Puru a lesson. I don't expect the CVs will invest enough time and effort in his love story to show the effect Roxana has on him and softening his temper. What's the lesson he'll teach Barsine after he kills her father, when he actually won't be able to find and kill him in the first place? Did Alexander marry her before or after going to India? It it's before then he'll end up being a cliched, jallad husband that I don't want to see. 🤢
Historically, he marries her and Parysatis , in a double wedding, in 324 BC, after his return from India. I don't think they will show this at all. Right now, the last thing he would think of doing, methinks, would be to marry her, least of all by force.
Anyway, no matter how much they demonize him, I can't see how they can show Alexander marrying Barsine by force. Not at this stage of the story. It will not make sense, but then again expecting logic from the CVs is becoming a difficult task. As I mentioned in the other thread, Alexander going to India for vengeance against Puru for his public humiliation is just too lame for words. He's not that pathetic a character that he'll be blinded by fury. It will still be about reaching his personal goal of glory and being empire of the world. He just seems to be out for vengeance now and trying to teach Puru a lesson for "beating" him in front of the public (at least that's what the Pauravengers think), which is very different from the strategic mindset that Alexander has. I don't suppose we'll see anything about them crossing the Hindu Kush either.
Agree completely with all of this.
I also loved that tiny detail of Alexander not blindly following Olympias' orders. He will do what he thinks is best and find other ways to punish the ladies. Reminded me of the earlier episodes where he taught the Greek kings interesting lessons. 😉
Finally, Rohit's hair is starting to distract me. They really ought to do something about it now. I understand he'd been chasing the Pauravengers down on horseback but even when he was in battle earlier and back in Macedonia, this didn't prevent him from having great hair. #CurlyBlondAlexander
It is getting frizzled by the heat and the dust. A proper hair treatment and it wil recover .
All the best at the doctor's. Hope you feel better soon.
Thanks, my dear. The XRay technician beckons! Bye.
