I think he just came into bw just for fun, once he got the taste of fame he wanted to see if he can make it his career. After all it's good money. He is a natural actor, very charming on screen but acting or being a Star isn't his passion like I would say Ranveers. In fact he is exact opposite of Ranveer when it comes to self promotion and putting himself out there...
He has good connections, his brother is a producer and vidya balan is his sister in law... but connections can only work if you use them cleverly.
