IIt has to be Krishna for me, and that started right from his childhood. As a kid growing up in Brindavan, he sent a whole lot of Asuras sent by Kamsa to their death. Then he dances on the hood of the mighty serpent Kaliya, forcing him to leave the Yamuna.

And if that is not enough, he advises the villagers to worship Govardhana mountain, since that is the real life giver, instead of Indra. And when Indra unleashes his anger, sending a huge thunderstorm, he lifts up the entire mountain on his finger, protecting all the villagers, making Indra eat humble pie there.

When he goes to meet Kamsa, his maternal uncle who had been trying to kill him from long, he first gets rid of the wrestlers Chanura and Mushtika, along with brother Balaram. And then throwing down Kamsa from the throne, strangles him to death.

He cleverly gets rid of Shishupal, making him exhuast the "100 mistakes I spare his life" promise he had given to the latter's mother. And earlier he had eloped with Rukmini who was betrothed to Shishupal, but had her heart on Krishna.

He did not lift a single weapon during the Kurukshetra war, yet he managed to outsmart the entire Kaurava army, though he only was Arjun's charioteer. He knew the weak points of Bheeshma, Drona, Duryodhan,Karna and smartly used it against them. He was the reason why the Pandavasa managed to win against a vastly larger and superior Kaurava Army.

Then , according to me, the most badass mythical character is Durga (Shakti)

Durga (Shakti) is a ferocious, fearless, gutsy, brave warrior with never give up atittute. Once she has set her aim, she will never give up to achieve the aim..no matter what. She has killed the mighty demons like Mahishasur, Shumbha, Nishumba, Raktabeej ( killed by Kali - another form of Durga), Durgasur, Arunasur and so on.

It is saying that Durga also is capable of countering Shiva's trident if thrown it toward her. Another one warrior was Atikya (son of Ravana) who grabbed the trident mid air when shiva threw it toward him.

Whenever Durga / Kali becomes angry, no gods including supreme Brahma, Vishnu have the guts to go near her. Only Shiva can calm her down, not by coming in front of her to fight with her. He uses his mind how to calm her down. I am giving the samples...

Sample 1. He laid down among the corpses of demon and when Kaali (Durga) put her right foot on her, it made her shocked first and then she cooled down.

Sample 2. Shiva turned himself into a crying baby and when angry kaali saw the baby, she became compassionate and started loving the baby ( her anger was gone).

Sample 3. Once Shiva asked angry Kali to dance with him and Kali accepted. Both started dancing together. Kali matched every steps of lord shiva.

Then Shiva took a tricky step - "Urdhvatandava" which Kali refused because it was not befit her as a woman and she became calm.

Durga / Kali are fierce, invincible warrior and greatest fighter with very strong determination. Also she is the consort of another strongest character - Lord Shiva. Both relies on each other for the functionality of universe.

and seriously speaking, Durga/Kali/Mahakaali is the character of the mythology who has the maximum ways to appear in different forms! she has both the soft and mild appearances and also the fierce and mighty avatars too!

and to me if we are told to find the ideal human characteristics from our mythology, i will pick Lord Krishna undoubtedly. He possesses all the practically possible human qualities those can be acquired'; from the knowledge of household, to the skills of war, from the quality of a leader to the art of being a follower, from the art of politics to the rhythm of music and poetry, from the essence of love to the techniques of engineering, he is the master of each and everything. Thus He is the only perfect human ever described in any languages in the world!

I can add goddess manasha , the queen of snakes too...once she descended on earth to see human devotees ...She was mocked by people but then manasha forced them to worship her by raining calamities on those who denied her power... She converted different people including Muslim ruler hasan ; but failed to get devotion from chand saudagar, a rich merchant...she killed his 6 sons one by one...but still chand didn't agree and mocked her ...so she conspired with two dancers of indra's court anirudha and usha , who loved each other , but it was against rule to be in love with fellow dancer in indra's court...it was conspired that after they die , they would take rebirth...anirudha would reborn as chand ' s 7th son lakhindar and usha as behula...manasha killed lakhindar on their 1st night together...and behula took a vow to bring back the life of her husband including chand's 6 sons and floated

with her dead husband for 9 months ...at last she succeeded and manasha gave back lives of all the sons with a condition that chand would agree to perform her puja...
