Dashgreeve wanted Shiva to relocate from Kailash to Lanka, and to make this possible, he tried to lift the mountrain. But Shiva, being who he is, put down his foot onto the mountain, thus crushing his own finger with his one toe. He let out a huge roar of pain, but at the same time, he was so enamored by Shiva's power, he performed the Shiva tandav stotram. It is believed that he plucked out nerves from his own hand to provide accompanying music. Pleased with his prayers, Bhagwan Shiv revealed himself and entitled him with a new name, Raavarn (due to the raav[sound] when he screeched).

Hence, Raavarn wasn't a name in actual, but a title.

I didn't see this episode in the show...Can u tell me whether Ravan's chanting of Shiva tandav strotram was shown in the show or not?
