Speaking of the actresses for the Persian ladies, then Riya D has a very pretty face but lacks acting chops. She simply can't express any emotions.
I cracked up at your apt explanation for her being suitable for Gandhari coz she was blindfolded🤣
And don't get me started on Stateira and Drypteis🥱

Omitting Sisygambis was a major blunder IMOThe Alexander-Sisygambis dynamic is extremely crucial to his character development in Persia.

I simply adore Sisygambis. What a woman she was!! She had the guts to disown Darius and rightfully so coz a man who abandons his family and subjects is no man but a coward.

Totally agree! Even a small scene would have added so much texture and color to both Darius and Alexander's graphs.

Speaking of Puru then I sincerely believe that heroes are not born. They are created by circumstances.I would rather have Puru facing failure for once and learning from them rather than being totally invincible all the time.

The way he addressed the people of Faras was something which sets him apart from the other Conquerors like the Mongols,Huns or even Philip.
He was never meant to be a mere conqueror. He was meant to be ruler and leader.
Spot on! He was a conqueror of hearts and not just lands. No wonder we talk about him even today!

I don't blame him at all for the mindless massacre for the moment he noticed it he put a stop to it.Sometimes a temporary period of chaos is required to restore order.
Alexander represents the order which would have followed the initial chaos.Endless carnage was simply not his policy.
All the killing he did during wars was to achieve something and not just for the sake of it. He was too astute to waste time, money, resources (and people) unnecessarily.

My dear Ramya,

I am so sorry for being such a late lateef. It used to happen to me in my old days as well, especially in the Jodha Akbar forum, where I had a very large number of active readers, but now, even with a much smaller group, I am not able to cover all the comments in time because of my rheumatoid arthritis.

I am glad you agree with me about Alexander's pseudo drunken scene in that episode. And I agree with you about the need to can Alexander's eternal mantra about Bharat, sone ki chidiya. I am fed up with it, it is getting to be as bad as Puru's koyi kaam adhura nahin chhodta!😡

But do see my latest; it is long, but it has an interesting character analysis of Alexander. I would like to see if you agree with my take on him and the Persian royal ladies.

I loved your scenario for the Alexander-Barsine-Puru-raakhi plot point, but you need not despair because the Alexander-Barsine romance now seems to be dead in the water. Just switch if from Barsine to Roxana - after all Alexander is now going to Bactria - and your scenario will be a hit. Actually, as a young girl, I was told this story of Roxana's raakhi for Purushottam, and it was shown in the 1941 film, Sikandar, with Prithviraj Kapoor and Vanamala as Roxana. I have never been able to lay hands on a recording of it, alas!

As for Barsine's outfit, it is like her expression. It never changes!😉

Dear Aunty,

Allow me to apologize for being terribly late. Life keeps me busy, can't really help it.
The scene you talked about, I agree, completely. He was feigning being drunk the whole time to get Barsine to talk about the 'accident'. Rohit nailed it as usual. The only thing disgusting yet not jarring about the scene was him claiming to love everyone and everything that has a connection with the sone ki chidiya. I really wish they tone down the bharat chant though I might be in for just disappointment.
I don't know how they are going to bring in the Alexander-Barsine alliance but can see it going the JA way. She would get married to him because there is simply no other way out and then she will fall for him(or maybe not). I don't see Puru keeping his promise of helping her just as yet so she can conveniently tie a rakhi around his wrist and beg him to spare her husband's life like a dutiful wife, obviously without her husband knowing, and Puru being Puru would grant her wish right away. Thus, he would lose to Alexander on purpose in the battle of Hydaspes, become his satrap and still be happy because he kept his promise and that's the end of the story. 🥱

PS-They really need to give Barsine new clothes, she has been in that dress since forever! Why does her style differ from that of the other ladies anyway?
