Sridevi to be honoured at Cannes

May 16 would be a red-letter day for the Indian cinema at the Cannes Film Festival as Bollywood's beloved and much-missed screen queen Sridevi will be honoured with a special evening of reminiscences, anecdotes, memories and visual footage of her best performances.
The evening has been organised keeping in mind the curiosity around Sridevi in the international arena.
An emotional Boney Kapoor says, "I'm happy that people all over the world are recognising her work and contribution to cinema. Even though the overwhelming emptiness of losing her remains, it's somewhat comforting to know that she lives on through her work.

The late actor and Bollywood icon Sridevi will receive a special salute for her contribution to cinema on May 16, at the Cannes Film Festival 2018. Husband Boney Kapoor and daughters will be present on the occasion.

The late actor and Bollywood icon Sridevi will receive a special salute for her contribution to cinema as part of an event, Titan Reginald F. Lewis Film Honours (a celebration of diversity and excellence in cinema), at Le Majestic Beach, Cannes Film Festival 2018.
Sridevi's husband and producer Boney Kapoor says that the actor will continue to "live on through her work. The tribute is scheduled to be held on May 16 at Le Majestic Beach, Cannes, and will see Boney Kapoor and their two daughters, Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor, in attendance.
Boney says that he feels happy to see this global recognition for Sridevi. "I'm happy that people from the world over are recognising her body of work and her contribution to cinema. Even though the overwhelming emptiness of losing her remains, it's comforting to know that she lives on through her work, Boney tells us.
The Cannes tribute follows this year's National Film Awards honour for Sridevi. She posthumously won the Best Actress award for her role as an avenging mother in the Hindi film, Mom (2017). "It's time to celebrate her life and her achievements. She is not with us today but her legacy will always live on, said her family, in a statement released at the time of the National Film Awards.
