Bhalla House:

Raman returns home in a foul mood. He walks in and sees that the decorations for the Mehndi function have been completed. Raman is about to go back to his room when the house door opens and Pihu enters.

Raman: Pihu how was school beta?

Pihu: Ruhiii Didi... Ruhiii Didi!!

Pihu walks towards her room while looking for Ruhi and goes in. Raman is frustrated as he can't think of ways to handle her anymore. After a few minutes Pihu comes out having changed her clothes, goes to the dinning table and checks all the containers which have dishes in them for lunch. She then goes to the kitchen and starts doing something. Raman watches her with mild curiosity. After a few minutes Pihu comes back with a plate, sits on the dining table and starts eating. Raman is shocked to see that instead of all her favourite dishes that were made specially for her she is eating toast with jam.

Raman: Pihu. Mihika aur Dadi ne specially tumhare liye tumhare sare favorite dishes banaye hai lunch mein. Tum yeh toast aur jam kyun kha rahi ho beta?

Just then Romi walks in. He goes and lovingly kisses Pihu on the top of her head.

Romi: Pihu my Rockstar! Yeh kya tum toast kyun kha rahi ho? Lunch nahi bana kya aaj?

Pihu: Bana hai chachu.

Romi: Phir yeh toast kyun kha rahi ho? Karela ya kaddu bana hai kya aaj?

Pihu shakes her head saying no as her mouth is full of toast.

Pihu: Chachu aapko lagta hai ki main stupid hoon?

Romi: Bilkul nahi! Is ghar mein agar koi intelligent hai toh woh tum ho beta!

Pihu: But kai logon ko shayad lagta hai main stupid hoon. Isliye unhein laga ki agar woh lunch mein mere favourite dishes bana ke mere samne rakh denge toh sab kuch thik ho jayega!

Romi: Accha isliye toast!

Pihu: Maine kal hi kaha tha ki maine jaise 2 years hostel me apna khayal rakha main abhi ghar pe bhi rakh sakti hoon. Mujhe kisi ki koi zaroorat nahi hai aur kisi ko mere liye yeh sab karne ki bhi zaroorat nahi hai. Chachu main lunch ke baad Ishita Aunty ke pass ja rahi hoon aur wahin rahungi. Kal mera ek class test hai aur mujhe science project bhi submit karna hai so main Aunty ke sath hi apna school work kar lungi. Ishita Aunty ne mujhe kaha tha ki jabhi ghar se bahar jaun kisi bade ko inform karun isliye aapko bata rahi hoon. Waise aapka favourite dum aloo bhi bana hai chachu- I think chachi ne banaya hai so aap lunch kha lo.

Romi: Agar aisi baat hai toh Pihu mujhe bhi toast se hi kaam chalana padega. Aur don't worry tum jao and acche se apne test aur project ki tayaari karo. Aur dinner bhi wahin kar lena beta yahan Mehndi ka menu bahut boring hai.

Pihu: Good idea chachu. Thanks! Main aapke liye toast bana doon?

Romi: Nahi beta main kar lunga. Tumhara lunch ho gaya toh niklo iske pehle ki yahan nautanki shuru ho jaye.

Pihu hurriedly finishes her lunch and goes to her room and Romi goes to his. Raman is flabbergasted by both of their behaviour. Pihu comes with her school bag and walks past Raman without even looking at him and leaves. Romi too comes back from his room and is about to leave the house when Raman calls him.

Raman: Romi. Yeh kya tha? Tujhe Pihu ko samjhana chahiye ulta tu uske is behaviour ko encourage kar raha hai?

Romi: Ek akeli Pihu hai is ghar mein samajhdar. Use kahun ki woh apna dimaag use karna bandh kar de?

Raman: Yeh bachkani harkatein tujhe samajhdari lagti hai?

Romi: Chothi bacchi hai woh isliye apne bachkani harkatoon se hi aapko samjha sakti hai ki jo ho raha hai kitna galat ho raha hai. Aapko Pihu ko wapas apne se door hi karna hai na...toh hostel bhej do...itna phaltu ka tamasha...yeh shaadi wagerah kyun kar rahe ho?

Raman: Dekh Romi I understand yeh sab thoda awkward hai especially tere liye. But main Mihika se shaadi kar raha hoon sirf Pihu ke liye. Pihu ko ek maa chahiye aur Mihika...

Romi: Bhai kisko samjha rahe ho, mujhe ya apne aap ko? Khair aap agar samajhna chahte toh bahut pehle samajh jate. Main chalta hun.

Raman: Ghar mein function hai aur tu...

Romi: Bhai main is ghar mein reh toh raha hoon but is ghar ke bachoon ke alawa mera yahan aur koi saga nahi raha isliye main is tamashe ka hissa nahi banunga. Waise agar mere yahan rehne se bhi takleef ho rahi ho toh main apna alag intazaam kar sakta hun...in fact jaldi kar hi lunga...yahan rehke roz apna dimaag kyun kharab karon.

Romi leaves without waiting for Raman's response and minutes later Adi and Aliya walk in. Aliya is carrying a few shopping bags. They both are rushing to Ruhi's room when Simmi comes and blocks their way.

Simmi: Mujhe sab pata hai ki kal kaise engagement rings toe-rings ban gaye the aur kaise khane ka menu Punjabi se Tamilian ho gaya tha. Tum dono ko last warning hai yeh khud bhi samajh lo aur Iyers ko bhi samjha do ki agar aisi koi ulti seedhi harkat dobaara hui toh mujhse bura koi nahin hoga.

Aliya: Arey Bua. Kya keh rahe ho? Main toh kitni excited hoon sare functions ke liye! Yeh dekho main kya lai hoon- special design kiya hua thali. Dulhan ki jo shagun ki mehndi hogi isi mein rakhi jayegi- main Dadi ko yeh bus dene ja hi rahi hoon. Aur maine toh kal ki sangeet ke liye bhi kya dhamakedaar performance plan kiya hai. Adi bhi perform kar raha hai mere sath-maine usko bhi mana...

Simmi: Bakwaas sunne ka time nahin hai mere pass. Sambhal jao tum sab warna mujhse bura koi nahin hoga yaad rakha.

Simmi leaves and both Adi and Aliya start laughing.

Aliya: Adi main jake Mehndi ke dhamake ki tayari karti hoon Ruhi ke saath. Tum yeh thali Dadi ko do and make sure koi gadbad na ho.

Adi: Don't worry. Dadi meri baat ko kabhi mana nahin karegi.

Ruhi's Bedroom:

Aliya walks in hurriedly and closes the door. She rushes to Ruhi and shows her the content in the bag.

Ruhi: Great! But Aliya isse pakka kam ho jayega na?

Aliya: Yes absolutely ho jayega. Maine bahut research kiya hai. Tum khud dekho...can you see and tell the difference?

Ruhi examines the content in the bag carefully.

Ruhi: Haan yeh toh ekdum genuine lag taha hai.

Aliya: Yeh lo thali. Adi wahan dadi ko pata raha hai. Jaldi set karo aur maine decorators ko jaisa bola tha unhone waise hi sab set kiya hai so koi problem nahin hoga.

Ruhi: Ab dekhte hai ki Mihika chitti ko Shagun ki Mehndi kaise lagti hai!!

Bhalla Drawing Room:

The decorators have transformed the Bhalla's living area. There is a small stage set where Mihika is going to sit and get her Mehndi applied. A beautifully draped table is in front of the stage to keep the Mehndi. Everyone is in their room getting ready so Aliya quickly comes and put something under the table and makes sure it is well concealed by the long table cloth used to drape the table. Once she is sure that it is properly concealed she quickly goes back to Ruhi's room and they both get ready.

Simmi, Param, Bhalla Ji and Toshi are the first to get ready and come down. They admire the decorations and compliment Simmi for having organised everything so well that too on such short notice. Soon ladies from the neighbourhood and other guests start arriving. Simmi and Param play the perfect hosts and welcome them.

Upstairs Raman is supposed to be getting ready but he just does not feel like it. He wonders why he has to do all this when today's function is just for women and girls. However he knows he has no choice. He picks up the clothes Simmi has laid out for him and goes to the bathroom to quickly shower and get dressed. Once he is ready he checks himself in the mirror. Reluctantly he goes downstairs.

Simmi brings Mihika who is dressed in an over the top green lehnga. Simmi makes her sit on the small stage. Toshi had kept the Thali with the Shagun ki Mehndi in front of Mata Rani at the Mandir in the house. The thali has 2 Mehndi cones for Mihika and a very small bowl with little Mehndi in it for Raman. Toshi goes to the Mandir and takes Mata Rani's blessing and pick up the thali and puts it on the table next to the stage.

Just then 4 dhol walas enter the house and start playing dhol loudly. Everyone looks and cheers on. They dhol walas stand a little distance away from the stage and continue to play. Adi, Ruhi and Aliya start pulling everyone to the area where the Dhol walas are insisting that there should be some dancing before the rasam starts. Everyone goes there. Raman and Mihika too are forced to go and dance.

While everyone is busy dancing Ruhi quietly slips away. She comes to the stage and quickly picks up the Mehndi bowl that is for Raman and keeps it on the table. She then takes the thali with the Shagun Ki Menhndi cones and hides it under the table covering it with the table cloth. From under the table she takes out another thali which also has 2 Mehndi cones in it and it looks identical to the thali she just hid. She places that Thali on the table and puts back the small bowl of Mehndi which is for Raman and quickly rushes back to join everyone and dance to the dhol music. She winks at Adi and Aliya to indicate that the job is done.

Once the dancing is over Simmi makes Mihika sit again on the stage and calls the lady who has been called to apply Mehndi to Mihika to come up.

Simmi: Dulhan ko aisi Mehndi lagana ki sab dekhte reh jaye.

Mihika: Thanks Simmi tumne itna accha sab arrange kiya hai. Yakeen nahi hota mujhe.

Simmi: Toh yakeen kar lo. Do din aur and phir Raman bhai hamesha ke liye tumhare ho jayenge.

Mihika and Simmi smile as the lady starts applying Mehndi. Simmi observes happily for a few minutes.

Simmi: Mihika tu aram se yeh sundar Menhdi lagwa main na tab tak mehmano ko dekh ke aati hun. Tujhe kuch bhi chahiye hoga na toh mujhe awaaz de dena.

Once Simmi leaves Adi, Ruhi and Aliya come and pretend to admire the Mehndi that is being applied. Adi pushes the table a little away and stands in between Mihika and the table on the pretext of clicking her pictures. While Mihika is distracted, Ruhi who is standing behind Adi but in front of the table quietly bends down lifts the table cloth slightly and picks up the orignal "Shagun ki Mehndi" cones and hides it with her dupatta. She then stands up, quickly leaves and walks out of the house.

Iyer House:

Madhavi, Vishwa, Bala and Kiran are sitting in the drawing room -all of them lost in their own thoughts. They had earlier in the day decided not to attend the Mehndi ceremony since the function was for Mihika and they have already disowned her.

Madhavi: Mera man kar raha hai abhi jake yeh dhol aur sab bandh karwa doon.

Bala: Relax Amma.

Kiran: Kaise relax kare Bala? Jis Mehndi pe Ishu ka hak hai woh Mihika ko lag rahi hai.

Ruhi: Aise kaise?!?

Everyone looks up and is startled to see Ruhi!

Bala: Ruhi tum yahan?

Ruhi: Dulhan kahan hai?

Everyone looks at her confused.

Ruhi: Aise kya dekh rahe ho? Dulhan kaha hai batao na? Arey Papa ki sirf ek hi Dulhan hai...kahan hai batao na?

Bala: Apne kamre mein. Pihu ko padha rahi hai.

Ruhi: OK. Main bus abhi aati hoon. Aap log na sulk karna bandh karo aur smile karo!

Ruhi runs to Ishita's room leaving behind a very confused group of people.

Ishita's Bedroom:

Ishita and Pihu are in deep discussion- they both are looking into Pihu's book and Ishita is explaining something to her. Just then Ruhi walks in and interrupts them.

Ruhi: Kya ho raha hai?

Pihu: Kal mera test hai na isliye Ishimaa mujhe padha rahi hai.

Ruhi: Ok. But ab bahut ho gai padhai. Thodi der ke liye ek chotha sa break lete hain.

Ishita: Ruhi. Uska kal test hai beta! Usko padhana zaroori hai.

Ruhi: No Ishimaa! Mujhe jo aapse kam hai na usse zaroori abhi aur kuch nahi hai.

Ruhi grabs Ishita's hand and makes her stand up from the sofa and sit on the bed. She then shows her two mehndi cones and grabs hold of her hand to apply it.

Ishita: Kya hai yeh Pihu? Raman wahan Mihika se shaadi karne wale hai aur tum chahti ho ki main Mehndi lagaun?

Ruhi: Ishimaa!! Kya bol rahe ho? Yeh koi aisi-waisi Menhdi nahi hai. Yeh Shagun Ki Mehndi hai jispe sirf aapka hak hai. Aapko kya lagta hai Papa ne keh diya ki woh chitti se shaadi kar rahein hai aur hum shaadi hone denge? Papa ki wife aur hamari maa sirf aap ho aur isliye yeh Mendi bhi aap hi ke hathoon mein lagegi. Pata hai kitni planning aur plotting ki hun teeno ne isse chura ke aapke pas lane ke liye. Ab no more questions. Chup chap mujhe lagane do aap. Aur hilna mat warna Mehndi kharab ho jayegi.

Ishita looks at Ruhi and tears come in her eyes. She had not expected this and is very overwhelmed by the love her children have for her and for everything they are doing to stop the marriage. Ruhi first makes a beautiful "R" for Raman on Ishita's palm and then goes on the make a simple design she had learned the previous night from a YouTube video. Coincidently at the same time as Ruhi is applying Mehndi on Ishita's palm at the Bhalla house Toshi is also applying Shagun Ki Mehndi on Raman's palm.

Once Ruhi is done applying the Mehndi she looks up expectantly at Ishita hoping to get her feedback. Ishita holds back her tears and gives Ruhi a warm hug.

Ishita: Ruhi beta! This is so beautiful! Isse sundar Mendi mere hathoon pe pehle kabhi nahi lagi hai. This is so special. Thank you beta!

Pihu: Ruhi Didi aap toh sach mein bahut talented ho. Mujhe toh sabse accha "R" for Raman laga!

Ruhi: "R" for Raman and "I" for Ishita ko hum kabhi ek dusre se alag nahin hone denge. Chalo Pihu bahar Patti, Tata, Peri Appa, Chitti sab pareshan baithe hai kyunki unko lagta hai ki Mihika Chitti ko Papa ke nam ki Mehndi lag rahi hai. Unko yeh good news to de dein ki asli dulhan ko Papa ke naam ki Shagun ki Mehndi lag gai hai.

Ruhi and Pihu go out while Ishita sits and happily admires her Mehndi. Everyone at the Iyer house is very happy once Ruhi announces to them what just happened.

Bala: Tum bacche toh kamal ho. Kal ring swap aur aaj Mehndi swap!

Ruhi: Lekin ek bahut bada obstacle hai jo humein nahin pata kaise overcome kare.

Kiran: Kaisa obstacle?

Ruhi: Humne sangeet ke liye kuch plan kiya hai par uske liye Ishimaa ka sangeet mein aana bahut zaroori hai.

Pihu: But Ishimaa toh kisi function mein nahin aa rahi hai.

Ruhi: Unko kal aana hoga. Humein unhein lana hoga. But yeh hoga kaise humein samajh mein nahi aa raha.

Bala: Ishita sirf Raman ke kehne pe ayegi. Aur koi use iske liye mana nahi sakta.

Kiran: Lekin Raman ke dimag mein itni galatfehmiyan hai Ishita ko le ke. Woh usse bulana toh door baat tak nahin karega.

Pihu: Aap log chahte ho Ishimaa wahan aaye taki shaadi ruk jaye?

Ruhi: Haan Pihu. Humne ek plan banaya hai aur shayad uske baad Papa yeh shaadi nahin karein.

Pihu: Aur us plan ke liye Ishimaa ka wahan hona zaroori hai aur jab tak Papa Ishimaa ko nahi bolte woh nahin ayengi...aur Papa Ishimaa se gussa hai so woh unse baat nahi kar rahe right?

Madhavi: Right Pihu...itna complicated problem hai...

Pihu: Kuch complicated nahin hai! Papa Ishimaa ko bulayenge-main unhein convince karungi.

Ruhi: But Pihu tum toh Papa ko full ignore kar rahi ho.

Pihu: Mujhe laga tha agar woh dekhenge ki main is shaadi ke bilkul against hun toh woh shaadi nahin karenge lekin pata nahi kyun unhein mera yeh protest shayad acting lag raha hai. Woh seriously le hi nahi rahe!

Ruhi: Nahi Pihu aisa nahi hai, woh bahut pareshan aur upset hai ki tum itni sad ho aur unse door ho but woh jabhi kuch karna chahte hai Simmi bua aa ke unhein rok deti hai.

Pihu: Isliye plan change karna hoga ab mujhe. Agar Ishimaa ka kal sangeet mein ana important hai aapke plan ke liye toh main papa ko convince karungi. Ruhi Didi aap bus itna karo ki Papa ko convince karo ki aaj raat ko jab main ghar wapas aaun toh woh mujhse akele mere room mein baat karne aye, baki Pihu will manage but kal Ishimaa har hal mein Sangeet pe ayengi. Aap log itna hard work kar rahe ho shaadi rokne ko so main use waste nahin hone dungi.

Ruhi: Really Pihu! tum hamari help karogi...thank you so much!
