UNPRECEDENTED: 21 persons including army officers send legal notice to Akshay Kumar, Twinkle Khanna over auction of 'Rustom Naval officer Uniform'

| 09-05-2018 01:27 pm

Hack:

  • 21 individuals including serving and retired Army officers have sent a legal notice to Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, his wife Twinkle Khanna over 'navy uniform auction'
  • In the notice, the star couple have been asked to stop the auction of Akshay Kumar's Rustom Naval Officer Uniform

In an unprecedented move, twenty one individuals including eleven serving Army officers, seven retired officers, have sent a legal notice to Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, his wife Twinkle Khanna and auction house over auctioning a naval costume Akshay donned in the movie 'Rustom'. In the notice, the star couple have been asked to stop the auction of "Akshay Kumar's Rustom Naval Officer Uniform", failing which legal action will be taken against them.

The list also includes one air force officer and wife of a Naval officer.

The legal notice says that the "uniforms resembling those of armed forces pose potential threat to to national security as the said uniform, insignia and badges could pass for genuine service clothing and can find their way to anti-national elements who can use it to foment trouble."

The notice also states that after the Pathankot attack, "Indian Army had issued guidelines urging civilians across the country to avoid wearing army pattern dresses and shopkeepers were asked to not sell combat clothes, uniforms and equipments as it is 'illegal to do so'. Thus, by putting the naval officer uniform for auction you have shown disrespect to national interest and have hurt the sentiments of armed force personnel."

Akshay Kumar had taken to Twitter to announce that the naval officer uniform he donned in the movie Rustom' is going up for auction. The bidding is for raising money for an NGO Janice's Trust which works for animal rescue. Akshay's wife Twinkle Khanna also shared the news on all her social media. However, even as most of the social media users hailed the move, a section of netizens were not very happy with the move. The auction move did not go down well with some social media users as they are of the opinion that it's an insult to the defence fraternity because their uniform is too priceless to be auctioned off.

Before seeing this I thought it's some random crazy group, like the karni sena, trying to hog the limelight.
But on reading this, I kinda understand their concerns.
Maybe Akki and Twinkle should look into it and I take into consideration the concerns regarding the uniform's possible misuse.
Especially as it is illegal to sell those uniforms in stores, so they must be very hard, if not impossible, to get!

1. You can always get it stitched.. If you are planning on an anti national activity, the least you can do is get it stitched

2. The auction will be probably those hi fi auctions which the ppl with too much cash spend on... And probably whoever buys it wil be covered by newspapers.. So we wil know where exactly it is

3. High security facilities don't just depend on uniforms for security measures...

4. Stop clogging the courts with useless cases.. It pushes back legitimate cases

Well the solution will be Akki and Twinkle just backing off, or buying the dress themselves and than donating it to some filmy museum.

I mean 5-10 lakh toh Akki mai chai-pani ka allowances leta hoga😆

u don't know how it all started. Twinkle could have just used the word costume instead of uniform for the advertisement.
Twinkle khanna's supporters really seem to not bother checking out facts before blindly supporting her.

Canadian Akshay used the Indian army all these years to sell his films to gullible Indians and to fill his tijoris. Finally looks like it caught up with him with Indian army men themselves coming out against him.

I know how it started... All this hoopla just bec she called a costume a uniform???... Lets file useless cases to burden an already overflowing court... She is not imp enough to give her so much attention.. She needs to be ignored not given more media attention

I think more then selling, renting or buying, it's the word 'Auction' thats hit hard, on this armymen's spyche. Indians by tradition look down upon that word. As properties are auctioned when the owner goes bankrupt. So Auctioning a Uniform seems like a bad thing...

If only she had said costume Or Akshay had given off something else, things wudnt have heated up this way.
