lovely, fresh story. Read the 8 parts in 1 go.
Hoping you update this soon.
Khushi could clearly her and Arnav's relationship moving forward and slowly transitioning from an awkward, Nice to meet you again' phase to something much more beautiful.
A week had passed since their little water fight in the park. Khushi had ran into him a couple more times in the park but she'd been with her mother for an evening walk so it was more of just talking casually. If the universe was being extremely kind to them by having them run into each other by coincidence or if Arnav was coming to the park after noticing from his balcony that Khushi was there, it was still a mystery to her.
On the work front, things had been fast paced. Everyone had been busy prepping for the big announcement party of the project the whole office, including Khushi had been working on. But working on it had been fun for Khushi because it tested her limits. Lavanya had quickly made Khushi her right hand and all the plans she made were directly executed by Khushi. It not only taught her how to coordinate with everyone and understand their working styles but also allowed her to directly work with Arnav.
Working with Arnav was hardcore. He was all work and no play when they were doing something serious but he had his own moments where he chose to be fun and might she say, romantic.
Just the other day, Khushi and Arnav had devised a plan to shorten the time being taken to shoot the promo by setting up a green screen within the office studio. It had taken them around four hours to get the setup started because it would not only help them in that moment, but if extended properly, it could save the actors and editors a lot of time that they spent on commuting between the office and the professional studio.
Arnav was just about to leave but Khushi decided to stay in the office, just to check on a few things. So there she was, sitting on her chair with a file in front of her, a pen that she held in between her lips and a messy bun on her head.
Khushi was exhausted but she wanted to overlook everything herself because there was no room for error. As she skimmed through the file, she felt an arm wrap around her back and a hand resting on her shoulders. She looked down at the end and was surprised by a soft kiss on her cheek. She immediately turned to look at Arnav, the person who had just given her a kiss and was also just about an inch away from her face.
"It's almost odd how cute you look even when you're stressed." Arnav whispered.
"...Thanks? Khushi said, almost questioning what had gotten into him. It was probably just the pressure of work getting in his head, she deduced.
"I'm leaving. Come, I'll drop you. I know Payal dropped you today so you don't have the car. You've done enough for the day, Khushi."
Khushi agreed because there was no point arguing and decided to take the file along with her.
Arnav had been doing small things like these to relieve bits of pressure off Khushi. She appreciated it, she really did but she just hadn't had the chance to thank him. She thought it'd be too formal and she was unsure of their status herself.
It was the night of the launch party, anyway so maybe she could slip in a little thank you. She made it a point in her head to not trick Arnav into drinking a lot this time because this event was really important.
Unlike the last party, Arnav wasn't going to pick her up. He was already at the hotel, getting ready in his private suite because y'know... rich people. Khushi knew she had to hurry too because the hotel was at least a 2 hour drive away, located at the outskirts of the city.
Khushi slipped into her strapless black gown, ditching the saree for the night. Bidding a goodbye to her family, she went outside to her car and instead, she saw Arnav's car outside her door.
She was damn sure Arnav was at the hotel, he even had plans to stay there for the night owing the long drive it would take him to get back home. Then what was his car doing here?
The window of the car descended and at the chauffer asked Khushi to sit in as Arnav had sent the car for her.
She hesitantly sat in, not sure of what to do. Arnav didn't have to do this but it did make her feel pampered.
Do all employees get the same treatment? Sly, Raizaada.
As Khushi settled in the car, she noticed a note kept neatly with a corsage beside her.
Fancy Raizaada stuff.
She picked up the note and took in the scent, she knew was his. Opening in the note, she read,
"Hey, beautiful. I didn't want to tire you, especially when you were looking that hot. So here's a car for you. Can't wait to see you.
Don't forget the corsage. Remember, I only do this for special people. ;)"
Khushi smiled as she saw the wink. The corsage was made out of lillies, her favourite flower and she happily wore it on her wrist. Damn, Arnav was going all out for tonight. Khushi wondered how the night was going to go if the start had been this beautiful.
A message beeped on her phone and she expected it to be Arnav's. With glee on her face and a pounding heart, she quickly unlocked her phone to read it. She felt like a teenager, no kidding,
But, it wasn't a message, it was an email. It wasn't from Arnav and the glee from her face disappeared but her heart pounded even louder. She read twice, thrice... ten times, trying to take in the new found information. Suffice to say, it was going to be a rough night for Khushi. Not only did she have to put her best foot forward for her company, she also had to face Arnav's charming antics with this new information causing a wreck in her head.
