There is an American play set in the McCarthy era called Perfect Arrangement. A lesbian couple and a gay couple are married to each other's partners to appear like two heterosexual couples in front of society. But a series of circumstances threatens to unravel the arrangement and forces them to make tough choices. This would be great to adapt into current day Indian society.

A remake of "500 Days of Summer". This is one of the best films about love and relationships. To the first time naive romantic viewer, Summer is a fickle heartbreaker. You sympathize with Tom and his whirlwind of emotions. To the more mature person whose seen years and relationships go by, Tom is immature and codependent. You sympathize with Summer who just isn't into Tom as much as he'd like, but is being emotionally guilted by Tom to reciprocate. "Meri Pyaari Bindu" attempted this type of narrative, but the adaption needs to be better written.

More fantasy fiction based on Indian myth and more historical fiction based on Indian narratives.
