Guys, am making this post coz I see a lot of reaction towards our show's TRP and how we can help boost it etc..
The unfortunate fact is actually none of us can contribute to TV TRPs even if we watch the show on TV.. i.e.. unless you are on the BARC panel and have BARC meters installed at home as part of being recruited and being instated in their panel..

Currently BARC is installed in some 40 odd thousand homes I think..

The panel is representative of the Indian TV universe and to caculate TRPs, the data is weighted basis this and extrapolated to the larger universe..

This system is much better than the earlier TAM measurement.. which was wrought with data issues and discrepancies.. and had people meters installed in only some 18000 households..

There is no such thing as online TRP as of now.. but yes, when planning, brands do take into consideration the online popularity of the show in terms of views, engagement metrics etc.. and if the target audience is brand TG, we go ahead and adverstise on the online platform.. that way shows survive even if TRP is low.. classic case is Kuch Rang Pyar, Beyhadh etc..

I know this coz I also handle media planning for a major brand..

Hopefully should clarify a lot of doubts.. those who are interested to learn more.. do read..

Hi Diya, I just replied to you on another thread..

My point was not about Sony having low TRPs or star etc being TRP hungry.. it all boils down to ad revenues.. Sony makes quite a chunk of its ad revenue through online coz its shows are more youth centric or modern, if I can call it that..

Star and Colors cater to the older TG and the show content too reflects that.. thereby meaning their TV revenues better be good to sustain the show.. as the younger audience anyway aint gonna watch much of their GEC content on hotstar.. so hence by that yardtick, they become TRP hungry..

But if you see online trp list even Sp, Colors and Zee tv shows have good online trps.
Like YHM, Ishqbaaz and Ishq Subanallah.

So channels have double revenue.

I guess online popularity will have to sail our ship for now. We are no 1 on if and that should count for something too.
Thanks for the info :)

This show definitely is teaching me a lot 😆
