Freedom IN and FROM a relationship

There is a difference to having freedom or independence IN a relationship and gaining independence or freedom FROM a relationship.

It all boils down to WHAT makes a woman feel independent. There are very many women independent and successful while remaining married. These are women who prioritize their lives and balance work and home. It's not about being super efficient, but about trying and making effort, stay independent financially and at the same to go to any length to save the relationship.

So is it the finances? It is not about being/acting petty but if all RISHTA is severed with the man, how did you manage to pay for the tickets to Pune?. Bhool jaana chahti hoon. The financial support extended so far to Sahil too? Convenient?.

When everything was hunky dory with Shivay, Anika had learnt to break few phones and buy expensive ring to give it Shivay ofcourse. Tab toh koi problem nahi thi.

Is it that the new mantra of independence be read as:

Walk away from a relationship, forget your spouse, resort to skin show (not my judgment, this verdict was passed by the very same character when the vamp was declared to be wearing skin revealing tuchi luchi kapde), and be answerable to none.

Oh well it's an image make-over, she is Anika Harshvardhan Trivedi.

This post is my opinion about the misguided thoughts on independent women. A woman can stay married, fight tooth and nail for a relationship that meant the world at some point in life, be compassionate to people around, feel comfortable in the clothes and fashion that once defined one's persona (without forcing self to wear anything that makes one uncomfortable-I am talking of the character here not actor) and STILL be financially independent and remain successful.

To young girls out there who feel otherwise, it's possible to be successful, independent by being married.

Before anyone would rule that I am a Shivay fan or Anika hater, I am just a disappointed fan who enjoyed Shivika's journey as a couple.

This post is only based on predictions and talks about Anika's image make-over and independence.
I hope this so-called independence is perpetual this time and not restricted to the time until things go back to being hunky dory.

Walking out silently from a marriage is no sign of independence. Agree with you completely on being married & being independent. Dispite the cinematic liberties & plot conviences incorporated, what is being portrayed is no support to feminism.

Please note this is not about who is more wrong here. Neither is it required to support one particular character. It is the state of the serial as a whole. Just like you,I also believe the independence will be short lived until Annika finds her way back to OM. After that it will be back to the good old tashaanbazzi for the sake of intensity.

I am yet to wrap my head around Annika's dialogues from last night's episode. The writers have not been successful in bringing out what exactly is Annika upset about hubby's marriage to a random girl, injustice to her dad, Shivaay wanting proofs to exonerate his family? She now comes across as a wronged wife, wishing to start a new life forgetting all that she shared with her husband.

The writing is sloppy, showing unnecessary nonsense in the name of independence for women, influencing young minds!!

Very well said Ganga. This is what I have been trying to say in various places over the last couple of days. Honestly I am old enough to feel worried when I read the ideal of feminism and independance that a lot of young girls seem to carry in their head going by what I am reading. I have lived enough years more than them in terms of life and marraige experience to know the fallacy of that thought and also to know that this line of thinking can only pave the way for unhappiness and discontent.
Tired of saying more on this now.

@ Arudra1009 : with you on all that you have said. There is no clarity on Anika's reasons at all. Although last night seemed to suggest it was all about Shivaay forgetting her so easily. I am still reeling from that and can't believe she said or believed that. But handful of us apart no one seemed to have any issue with that.

And the worst is that anyone who tries to put a reasoned point of view across on this is only subjected to name calling. There is no attempt to even think about the substance of what is being said.

Absolutely.

The categorization as a hater/supporter of one character kind of dilutes the effect. Ultimately the story in totality suffers, but that's being overlooked/;ost out.

Nothing new there, until its time for fresh reboots for obvious reasons.

I'd like to know too. Waiting for some clarity is expecting a little too much. I am aware of that

It is a cause for worry going by responses elsewhere.

To me, there is none. You have just stated your opinion. And very valid points these are.

Thank you Arudra, for your views

Thank you.
Thwisha, did read your pre-edited version on "being young". Haha, I'll take it as a compliment.

@ GreenBold, Many of us feel the same as to how can they undo so much of progress.

The idea of feminism seems misplaced among people in general. I don't want to point out to specific needs or wants of young/old female audience of the show. But the need to have an independent Anika the minute she leaves or walks out on Shivay doesn't seem healthy. Or may be I am too old too in terms of understanding what independence is for a woman . This is generally speaking.

I am reminded of OnlyRani's post. The writers then and now seem to have a disconnect there. The continuity in terms of character development seems totally lost.

And the worst is that anyone who tries to put a reasoned point of view across on this is only subjected to name calling. There is no attempt to even think about the substance of what is being said.
I guess we have to deal with this convenient tagging that some of us receive. Its just an attempt to put points across. Sometimes, I don't ever get a debatable response. That doesn't stop me from writing it out here.

Thank you !!!Biraj, right?

Hey that's okay. The rarity of posts is because of the "experience" gained from here since 2009.
I stick to AY's posts since we've known each other from "Gulaal" show we watched together. Her posts are so colorful and so well articulated that there isn't much to say from my end. When things are good, all good. The recent frequency is because one feels for the show going haywire that was once a pleasant watch .

No worries. I said I'll take it as a compliment.😛

Yes, right:)

Yes speaking generally only.

As far as the show is concerned I am just disappointed. And I especially don't get this bit about keeping score in relationships in general and even more where Shivika are concerned given the journey we have been shown so far. Fandom's arguments make it seem as if It's like a tit for tat or an eye for an eye. 🤔. Shivaay did this once upon a time so Anika must do this now. Shivaay has a fake wife so Anika must have a hot boss. It trivialises important things. And it puts the focus on and supports holding grudges until eternity rather than resolving issues and moving past them. As if it's inportant to be petty rather than rise above and beyond past things especially where things have been redeemed and someone may have more than paid for their mistakes and made amends. And I am just saddened at the blow this has dealt to Shivika. Both Shivaay and Anika don't come out of this looking good. And the whole feminism and independance idea here is about such shallow things.

My only excuse is that they both had a bad day which was physically and emotionally overwhelming in many levels and they are overwhelmed, distraught and not thinking straight and things are too raw at the moment. (I know this can be argued but that's the excuse I am giving myself to try and reign in my disappointment). So now it depends on how this plays out going forward. To me the signs are not looking good. But will wait and watch.
