Is the little boy Alfie Evan's death akin to state sponsored killing?

Alfie Evan's parents wanted to take him to Vatican where doctors were waiting for him, to treat his condition

But the UK gov refused their rights, ordered the hospital to take him off life support, the boy died five days later

He was barely 2 years old

Yes I know it's totally unrelated to BW

And that's why I posted it here, just following the trend

Most people here might not have heard of it or even interested in it but I still posted it

Wasn't it a case of dubious treatment. Like no one was sure whether it can even cure him. The state wud have allowed the parents though even if it was not working. That would have given parents a closure. Now whole life there will be what if situation.

Alder Hey doctors are some of the best in the world. Poor Alfie was so I'll they couldn't diagnose him earlier due to his rare condition

Even the hospital in Rome would only have offered palliative care (same as alder hey). The argument was that the journey would have been torture for him (acc to doctors) or he felt no pain (acc to parents).
IMO no doctor willl ever want to lose a patient, this is a horrible situation not helped by the parents lawyer who was in it for himself

Even I had not heard about this case... but no matter whatever the chances, I dont think it was the states call to take... the only two people whose decision shouldve mattered were his parents...

And why deny someone the treatment, till he is alive...esp in this case, when the kid wasnt even in the position to decide for himself... From what little i have read in your post. I think the government shouldve allowed him to go.

Rome was only offering palliative care not a cure which Alder Hay was already offering him since so many months ...difference was that it Rome would have charged them for the care .
Doctors decided in the best interest of the child that it was no use and torturous to take him there ...he was brain dead for long and this time was only stretched due to hospital care and keeping him alive for the sake of it .

This case is very scary and disheartening

Parents wanted to try different treatment which will not cost the U.K. gov a penny and not affect any other child's treatment..

Italian gov gave Alfie honorary citizenship status and ready to treat him

But the UK court decided the child must die... Disabled child's life is not worth living, it must die with dignity Parents have no right over their toddlers life, it's the state to decide 😡

European Human Rights courts declined to take up the case

I cannot believe whta's Happening
