I have been reading about topics on this forum that suggest a 2nd marriage of the protagonist Kabir.

Keeping religion aside, just curious to know what does the Indian Law say about it?

As far as I know polygamy is illegal. Not sure thou.

In India there are different set of laws with regard to ma rriage and divorce for muslims and others . I'm not sure but I think they follow their own Islamic laws...

And it is unfortunate that there are people who convert to islam just to have multiple wives.

Articles 494 and 495 of the Indian Penal Code of 1860, prohibited polygamy for the Christians. In 1955, the Hindu Marriage Act was drafted, which prohibited marriage of a Hindu whose spouse was still living. Thus polygamy became illegal in India in 1956, uniformly for all of its citizens except for Hindus in Goa where polygamy is legal (Not so sure about this), and for Muslims, who are permitted to have four wives.

A polygamous Hindu marriage is null and void.While the punishment specified in articles 494 and 495 is applicable, it is rare if the first spouse does not have an objection.

I dont think it will be like that. So far CVs are doing great. They cant suddenly downgrade to such low.

Yup because its illegal for a Hindu to marry more than one but not for Muslim.

Where my mother comes from, even Muslim have to follow the law of monogamy and are not allowed marry more than once. Thou I don't think it is applicable.

Really? Are you sure you want believe on shows? In shows woman turn into house fly and shows have snake as female lead. Main point, serials at not based on facts and reality. Especially not Hindi shows. 😆
