Sooner or later Karan will show his true face and he knows Chakor will be the one standing up to him like she did with KN and Imli-RV. I think he wants to get rid of her because of that, it's better to do it now while she still trusts him.
Karan probably had plans to come to Azaadganj before the exhibition and already had info about the place's history and current situation.

In one promo,Karan want to destroy Azadgunj and next one,he saying Chakor as thorn.
So may be he thinking Chakor will be threat to his mission of destroying Azadgunj.
It means he has some past connecion with the village and may be with KN.
If he is a son of KN then the anger towards Chakor is for killing KN.
Or he had issues with KN and migt leave Azadgunj as a kid during his childhood so when he become rich,he want to rule Azadgunj and for that he thinking Chakor will be a threat.
