upcoming Aanand L Rai film titled Zero
which is slated to hit the theatres in
December this year. However, speculations
about his next project post Zero have been
rife for quite sometime now. If the recent
buzz is anything to go by, then SRK has
agreed to do the Hindi remake of R
Madhavan's Vikram Vedha, but has put forth
two conditions before he gives his final
nod.
DNA After Hrs had already reported that
When R Madhavan first brought the Tamil
film to Shah Rukh last year, SRK appeared to
be interested in remaking it but the film was
put on the back burner. Reason being, Shah
Rukh wanted to reprise the character of
Vijay Sethupathi (Vedha) and wanted
Madhavan to play the cop (Vikram) in the
remake as well. Our source had informed us,
"There were two things. Although Shah
Rukh loved the film, it's an extremely layered
and risky project to be made in Hindi. Plus,
since SRK wanted to play the gangster who
eventually turns out to be a hero, the space
is very similar to his Fan where you end up
sympathising with the film's villain." Hence,
the prokect couldn't take off last year.
However, the tables seem to have turned
now that Neeraj Pandey has come on board
and acquired the rights to remake the film
in Hindi. A BollywoodLife report suggests
that after Neeraj got the rights to the Vikram
Vedha remake, Shah Rukh's two most
important conditions have apparently been
fulfilled.
The report suggests that SRK's first
condition was that he would play Vijay
Dethupathi's character, while he was
offered to play Madhavan's part initially.
After Neeraj came on board, this issue was
sorted as the producer-director felt that SRK
would fit the bill for Vedha's character.
The second condition put forth by Shah
Rukh is reported to be that the Hindi remake
be helmed by Neeraj Pandey and not by the
original director duo Pushkar and Gayatri.
SRK wanted Neeraj to direct the remake
since he's producing the film too.
Though, there hasn't been any formal
announcement from the makers about this
project yet, if this indeed turns out to be
true, then it'll be pretty exciting to see Shah
Rukh Khan and Madhavan coming together
on screen for the first time. Those who're
caught unaware, the Tamil film Vikram
Vedha revolves around a ruthless cop, who
wages war against an unscrupulous
gangster, only to find the truth in the end.
