Yet another good episode for this week...lol someone pinch me and wake me up from the dream...actually, I feel a rude awakening is probably coming soon anyways :P...regardless, this is another episode to be cherished :)
If yesterday was about Anika officially being reborn after having discovered her full identity at long last, having celebrated that special birthday with Shivaay, today surprisingly gave us some follow up.
Follow ups are such a rare endangered species in IB land that they must be cherished when we get them😆😆...today we got an Anika actually going through the stuff she got from her childhood home...slowly pulling out each item and cleaning it...an old tiffin box, a troll doll, a barbie, her father's precious medal...the picture frame that she keeps stroking lovingly over and over again as she proudly writes out her full name on a piece of paper as if it's the most precious thing in the world...and I repeat like a broken record...SC was tremendous in this scene yet again👏👏
Shivaay on the other end, as expected is trying to suppress any info related to Anika's dad...only giving surface level info to his family, even wiping public records on the internet clean with the help of his lawyers...Oh Billu *sigh*...in your good intentions, you may failaao more raita.
Meanwhile, Anika is still basking in the joy of having a full name...the happiness with which she comes and hugs Shivaay and the proudly shows him that little note card with her name on it...why is this girl such an adorable little baccha...lol the way she maaroed the tadi of her FULL name "Anika Vardhan Trivedi", making Shivaay smile watching her antics and then teasing her that she used to claim that taking his name gave her Michmichi and now she wants to add something to sirf Anika? hahaha how cutely did he try to tickle her there😆😆
Anika sobers down for a bit and the scene turns poignant...as she mentions that there was a void inside her her whole life...it always pinched her that ppl judged her lack of a surname...even though she took pride in being only Anika, she still felt the pinch...she was grateful to Shivaay for ultimately casting NKK aside and accepting her as she is...but still something felt missing inside her...until today...until today when she finally has a "Naam...khoon...khaandaan"...all the three things that once wreaked such havoc in her and Shivaay's lives...but today, it was cast in a positive light...today she could own her own NKK happily...there is a difference b/w pride and arrogance...for most of his life, Shivaay treated NKK with arrogance...but today, Anika owned her NKK with pride...that was the difference...and I thought it was a beautiful moment coming full circle for these two. For finally, Anika felt complete in her identity today...as an individual, she can finally claim her identity with pride rather than always feeling uncertain...and so she thanked Shivaay yet again for fulfilling in a whole new way..."Aaj Anika puri ho gayi"
The way she pulled out that medal and then talked about her father, a man so honest and sincere in his work that he was rewarded for it with a medal...making her feel so proud to be his daughter, to be able to take his name with pride like Shivaay takes his family's name with pride...my heart broke for Anika there...after forever, she is ALLOWING herself to soak in some happiness, not running away from it...but trouble unfortunately is still around the corner...they are setting this up for a fall with showing Anika being so happy about her father...
Shivaay feels more and more conflicted, the more he sees her happiness...makes him all the more reluctant to give her any controversial news about her father...and makes him more determined to clear her father's name.
Then came the other pleasant surprise of the epi...I thought Pinky had already made a lot of amends in the scene we got last week...but today, things were kicked up to a whole new level...lol now I dunno if this is a result of NM's break that we are getting such long drawn out Anika-Pinky scenes now but I welcome it either which way...today's scene was another study in how similar this saas-bahu duo is...all heart and nautanki...lol NA was brilliant once again as she apologizes to Anika with so much remorse...to my surprise, even the NT track was addressed with Pinky mentioning how much she maligned Anika's family, even produced a fake mother...the vile extent to which she has gone...there was true remorse in her today...there were things we've long awaited...her feeling truly ashamed for her actions, folding her hands in apology in front of Anika...and ultimately finally asking her to call her "Maa"...and so we get an Anika calling her "Maa...Pinky Maa"...
What made this scene extra touching for me along with NA-SC's fabulous performance was the perfectly put in reactions from Shivaay...he was so moved seeing the two major women in his life finally bond like this...the way he'd smile in b/w over their antics too, shaking his head in amusement as Pinky blurts out a "Toh abhi tak Pinky Aunty kyun bulaati ho mujhe?"😆...and the way Pinky and Anika would take turns to keep glancing at him in the middle of the scene...showed how CONNECTED these three are...even in a scene that NM shot seperately, they all managed to bring SO much feel to it
They also managed to close the whole "Kul patri" loop...haha didn't see that one coming...but finally Anika gets to put her full name in the family name book...Pinky really doesn't do any thing in half measure, does she?
The whole epi had such a lovely feel of Anika being cherished so much by the family, finally feeling complete in many ways...but ofcourse shadows loom over this happiness...with Shivaay worried about Bua's lame blackmail threats and Anika's reaction to learning about her father's suicide note...remains to be seen how Shivaay manages to tackle this...lol Bua still hasn't revealed who she wants to suddenly marry Shivaay off to😆
