Abhishek Kapoor's Kedarnath starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara Ali Khan ran into a major controversy when the filmmaker had a fallout with the producer, Prernaa Arora (of KriArj Entertainment). But thankfully, the troubles have come to an end as Abhishek and Prernaa have sorted their differences out. Prernaa has opted out of the project and now it's Ronnie Screwvala, who will be producing Kedarnath (under his production house RSVP) along with Abhishek. We got in touch with Prernaa and asked her about this new development and she revealed that Abhishek and she, together, decided to move on and that he has returned Rs 15 crore that were invested by KriArj in the movie.
Prernaa says, "Abhishek and I cordially decided this and he has returned Rs 15 crore that were invested by us in the film. It's a very good gesture. I think it's a very nice thing that has happened. We decided to move on. I wish him all the best. I am very happy that Ronnie is on-board for this.
Talking about coming on-board as a producer, Ronnie said, "It's a great love story set against the backdrop of a very powerful true-life event that affected us all with the floods in 2013. The film completely matches our vision of great stories that need to be told and (we) can't wait to bring this story to the audiences early next year. This also means that there is a change in the release date of Kedarnath. The film was earlier scheduled to hit the theatres on December 21, 2018, but as Ronnie revealed, now it will release sometime early next year, in 2019.
Kedarnath was supposed to be Sara's big Bollywood debut, but now that the film is not releasing this year, it will be Rohit Shetty's Simmba that will be Sara's first film. The unofficial remake of Jr NTR's Temper, Simmba also stars Ranveer Singh and is scheduled to hit the theatres on December 28, 2018.
The first schedule of Kedarnath, has already been completed in Uttarakhand. Now that the controversies are over, the shoot for the film will finally resume later this month in Mumbai.
