Deepika Padukone confesses how a superstar tried to knock her off a film and Ranbir Kapoor came to rescue
Deepika Padukone has been on a roll. On work front the actress is doing exceptionally well. It would not be wrong to say that the actress has managed to give some of the reigning male superstars a tough competition too. While Deepika hails from a renowned family, with father Prakash Padukone being a sports star himself, this did not really help the actress in her filmi career. The actress started as a model, made quite an impact on the ramp and also with her first song, Himesh Reshammiya's Naam Hai Tera. Such was Deepika's personality that the actress was offered her first film by Salman Khan. Deepika had to turn down the offer then, as she was not prepared for Bollywood. However, her debut was nothing short of a dream one. The actress was launched alongside Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om, a movie that beat Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor's Saawariya at the box office. Deepika, however had her shares of misses too and a down phase in her career. However, the actress bounced back only to make it to the top spot. The actress has a record of maximum number of Rs 100 crore films in a year, a feat that no Khan or Kumar has acheived in Bollywood till date. But looks like there was this one time when Deepika felt let down by a big star in the industry. In a rather candid conversation with Filmfare Editor, Jitesh Pillai the actress admitted how she was almost roped in for this movie with a superstar and then ousted without her knowledge. The actress hinted foul play, however refused to divulge more details. Deepika also revealed in the course of this conversation that Ranbir Kapoor starrer Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani fell into her lap around the same time and this movie changed the game for her. The actress was grateful to have reunited with her ex-boyfriend on screen for YJHD. That's not all, Deepika also talked about SRK and Farah Khan and revealed how she never had to audition for her role in OSO. Watch Deepika unplugged here... However, Deepika fans would be happy that the actress was unaffected by this one loss and went on to work in some great films like Piku, Bajirao Mastani and of course Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.
