The duo reportedly maintained zero contact for almost seven years. Reports even claim that they tried to avoid any sort of public confrontation throughout this tenure.
The two took the world by surprise when they decided to show up on stage together during IIFA, 2014. Notably, Kareena Kapoor had appeared on stage to present the award, while Shahid and Farhan Akhtar were co-hosting the show. Kareena even greeted Shahid with a sweet, "Hello, Shahid, on stage. This appeared like a hint of a new friendship between the two. Their animosity seemed to have been fading.

The two appeared in Udta Punjab' together and even though, they didn't share the screen-space, Shahid had reportedly revealed that he was the one to suggest Kareena Kapoor for the film.
He allegedly said that he was the first to suggest that Kareena was the perfect for the role and that he respects her as an actor and is happy that she is living a good life while so is he.
Following which, Kareena Kapoor also went on record to share a moment she shared with Shahid at the Femina event back then.
She reportedly revealed that the two were performing at a Femina event and while they were chatting, Shahid Kapoor actually told her that he was getting married. She later said that he told her before he told the media.
Kareena later added that she is very happy for him. The actor also acknowledged that he is doing very well professionally and that she hasn't seen Haider' yet but her sister, Karisma saw it and loved it.
It appears that Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor were reportedly also the first ones to learn about Shahid and Mira's pregnancy. The actor shared the happy news with Saif Ali Khan on Rangoon' sets.
