Simonica and her Psychosis

Hope everybody is doing well. My social responsibility came calling early in the morning today😃. So here is my plug for PSYCHOSIS and people afflicted with this type of condition. This is purely informational, so for people who get bored with my lectures, I give permission to stay away😃

The other disease processes they showed in the show so far are utter rubbish. But I have to say Simonica's illness, they are depicting very close to reality. This is what true psychosis looks like, folks😔. This is the cardinal feature of psychosis, a complete lack of insight, deranged thoughts, pervasive rumination, no concern for others or self. She goes to the extremes of trying to harm Abhi, Pragya, has elaborate planning, doesn't care about anything that might come in the way. Including herself, she didn't care to jump off the building. Because of what? She is just trying to alleviate and act on her pervasive thought of Abhi killed Dushyant, so I have to kill him, Pragya. Her mind doesn't let her see anything beyond that, as to why, what circumstanaces etc. You can see her almost rabid face when she demands and expects Abhi " why did you not ask him to shoot Pragya again, or why did you not pull him up, so you are not a saint either", they just don't follow any rational or linear thought process. So no amount of lecturing, conducting panchaayats, pleading, slapping and rationalizing with her is going to work in this situation. How do we recognize people afflicted with psychoses? To this day, I remember a simple way one of my professors from my very early days of training said. People with psychosis feel that they are normal, goal oriented, while everybody around them feel they are strange, bizzare😲. They have no ulterior motive, other than acting out on unwanted thoughts and beliefs, in other words, they are not doing this for self- gain. Contrast this to people who have neurosis, which are personality disorders, who do things for a purpose, self gain, here the person doing this knows they are not normal, but they can cover it up so people around them feel they are normal or a slight variant. We have our glowing example🤬in the show for this. This is the reason, I understand Simonica, I think she belongs in a mental institution, not a police station.

Point of my post is, to bring awareness to this condition, which is a malady that can affect many, many lives. This is the cause of major catastrophes we are seeing with mass shootings in schools, public places. If you come across people like this in real life, who are close to you, please don't shun them, they need major psychiatric help, they can't be talked/lectured out of this. It truly is devastating, and unfortunately a societal taboo😭, a bad combination.

By no means, am I claiming to be a expert in mental health, for the record. But I do come across these people and situations in my professional life. This is by no means, the entire information, just scratched the surface. My hope is for people to think along these lines if they come across anything similar in real life. If there are any mental health professionals on the forum, please do not hesitate to correct me, or add anything else that you feel is important.
