"There is no dearth of male attention, I assure you! Even if God gives me the option to become fair, I would never want to change the colour of my complexion," smiles the 20- year-old. Parul says she could not contain her excitement when she saw Saloni in Saat Phere and secretly hoped that she would a similar serial one day. Her dream came true with Bidaai. "The best part is that she does not become bitter or angry, and continues to be her docile and innocent self."
Parul hails from Lucknow and had never thought of acting as a career.
"I wanted to be an engineer! One day I went for a wedding, and someone remarked that I should try modeling or acting. Encouraged by my parents, I headed for Mumbai and got my portfolio clicked. I was called for an audition the very next day I sent my pictures to Balaji, and landed the part of Riya in Kayaamat. But it was a negative character, and I didn't get any accolades," says Parul, who even went back home for a while after doing the serial.
The acting bug had bitten this young girl, and once again she returned to Mumbai to try her hand at acting. It's then that she bagged the role of Rajini, and this time she's in love with her character. "Together with my co-star, Sara, who plays my sister with a fair complexion, enjoy playing these two physically divergent characters!"
As of now, she is not thinking about other serials or films. "Films don't excite me because I will be seen on screen once in a while. In a daily soap, I am watched regularly and that is exciting to me."
Parul lives in Goregaon, and loves the experience of being in Mumbai. "Life is rocking here. It is so different from the small town that I've spent my childhood in. There is so much freedom for girls, and no interference from friends or family. I wouldn't choose to live anywhere else at this point of my life!"
Now that she's had her share of fame, Parul's singular ambition is to sustain her newfound glory. "My father cried the first time he saw me in this serial. Apart from the fame, I want my parents to be proud of me!" beams the dusky beauty.
