One of the biggest things that movie opened my eyes to was I saw shades of Sapna in myself. How I took my mom for granted.

Even though my mom has spent her adult life outside India, I could see shades of her in Shashi.

The sacrifice of a mother, the crying when she leaves, the silent ways in which she takes care of the family, the skills she has yet how she underestimates herself yet praises her children for every achievement. Sridevi became the soul of an Indian mother.

She made me appreciate my mom more and I am most thankful for that.

I think so! Even though I guess the movie couldn't have ended any other way, I really wanted her to go with the French guy! 😆 I didn't like her husband or her kids.

even me too wanted her to accept the guy's love...

but this is indian women we are talking abt...shashi might have been attracted to laurant but her family come first n she will not leave it for her love too...love/attraction can happen after marriage too...its which path u choose...she choose that leads to her family n buried all those emotions...

Not only in India its accepted world wide that a married woman will prefer her family first..

Just see the climax speech once more... you I'll get ur answer...she has stated marriage in such wonderful small emotional speech.

As per Sasi s speech.. some times u feel down...then u have to help urself... she dint say just see some random guy and go with him...

EV is such a god movie where the script is very tight and each scenes have messages...

Sasi loved her family very much... and they also loved bac Sasi...

Sasi says in one scene to Radha when she ask abt the French guy...she doesn't require love only she needs is respect...

Sasi likes him bcose both have one common interest that's cooking...

The daughter acts according to her age... that doesn't mean she dint love her mother...and husband also loved Sasi...just he teases her on her English or cooking

And her English learning was not to prove anyone that she knows the language...she was happy and confident with her language and independence when she was in Pune...

But when she reaches America before going to the cafe another scene was there...she s surprised seeing her sister talks in Gud English...and they were saying sharada vid y'all mandir...not knowing a single word of English...Kahan se kahan pahunchgaya AB... and . when Kevin comes her discomfort in talking and understanding in English and she leave from dining table saying she s sleepy...and next day the cafe episode happens...

So not bcose the husband and daughter teased her English that's y she learned that... no...she learned it for herself...as in the last speech she says help yourself...she was helping herself...and loving herself...

It's needed in any relation ... when u feel down..u reinvent...u examine urself and strengthen urself...

I wrote a long essay...I can go on and on abt Sasi...it's such close to me... but wanted to write this as I'm seeing lots of posts saying Sasi had to go with French guy... in what logic I don't understand...may be those who have these opinions are single
