whatever happened to Kritika saggai etc

The series began with Kritikas sagaai to Akshay and we saw them in a couple of episodes. Now absolutely no mention of that whatsoever. Even for festive occasions etc they are not inviting Akshay. Has that engagement broken now? did I miss something along the way? Or the guy quit and the track ended?

I feel like in one of the episodes they explained that Akshay was away for three months, dubai or something?

Kritika's marriage will happen only after Preeta enters Luthra house as her bhabhi!

probably that means the actor is busy or considering jumping the ship ..
