In karan johars kofee with karan ranking best actor female in rapid fire means only current female actors. The 90's female actors are the royal ignore group, forgot inviting properly are not even mentioned in discussions.(just madhuri n juhi came for promotions or else we nevr saw raveena, karishma,urmila, manisha, sonali bendre etc etc )

But ranking best male actors in rapid fire have the mention of the 50 year old uncles. Just because they are working year after year.

Todays outpouring in the mumbai streets from lokhandwala complex to vile parle where fans from different parts of country came to pay last tributes concluded something that

1. One doesnt need to do movies to be called No.1 heroine.

Sridevi had taken sabbatical from main stream roles since judaai in 1997. She did english vinglish and mom which were artistic roles.

2. Just because some heroines dont work regularly doesnt mean that they are out of screen time and not towering figure.. SRIDEVI'S fan base is just unimaginable. Not necessary to meet them at box office only.Such a pan indian effect.

3. Likewise Madhuri, Juhi, Kajol, Raveena arent active or have not got satisfied box office in recent times .But these actors should not be ignored as gone phase actors with trollers saying rude things like buddhi ho gai hai etc etc.

4. Even English Vinglish despite being loved by audience didnt create a 360 degree change in life of sridevi .MOM was appreciated but same it also didnt become the talking point.

The issue is despite a nom existent career also SRIDEVI proved why she even during her last procession got so much of mass frenzy like a current generation heroine.

i doubt even priyanka, deepika, kareena will have such kind of pan india following at present?

I think its high time the film magazines like filmfare, stardust should take out some time away from the current actreses and introspect properly what parameters make a heroine no.1

Its not deepika or priyanka.but in wider context it was sridevi

and after sridevi, its Madhuri and Kajol.

Thats true. It seemed SRIDEVI's stardom in totality bypasses the present generation of female stars .

I hardly doubt the present crop of actors will get such love when they depart. People are too busy with smart phones now..ahead they will be busy with more difficult gadgets to even mourn a stars death.

I no doubt like the present generation of actors female.

But the 90's actress or previous veteran actors get that kind of adulation only after they have left.

Its unfair

Why just Madhuri,Juhi,Kajol ,Raveena

i feel Shilpa shetty , Sonali bendre ,urmila are as much a part of the glorious nostalgia of 90's kids.

undoubtedly the 90's heroines will remain no. 1

A lot of actors are part of each generations.. but its the most popular ones with the biggest fan following are what people remembers. Like Hema-Rekha of 70s, Sridevi-Madhuri of 80s & 90s, Kareena-Deepika-Katrina probably from this gen.

Sridevi was unique in that she had fans even now down South who travelled all the way to see her for the last time. Yesterday I read about a 20 year old girl from Chennai who travelled to Mumbai with her family to pay respects. Sri left BW 20 years ago for a sabbatical, she left the South long before this girl was even born. But her parents probably introduced her to Sri's movies.Yesterday you saw many people standing in line carrying kids to pay respects. Generational fandom is something unique.

I agree about Madhuri and possibly Kajol. Rest I don't think so. In the older generation Rekha is the only one I can think of, possibly Hema Malini.

Just about the fandom and superstardom. God give all of them long lives, they are all mothers of small kids.

the point is how the actress of previous decades do command that stardom evn today, which was showed by sridevi...

for you raveena ,kajol may be not par excellence. They are indeed in that league

but for many they are.

Today, we have jokers who just have 1 fluke hit and start blowing their own trumpet as "Queen" n "Superstar".They shud hang their head in shame today.

Sridevi was a Pan India Superstar and was a Pathbreaker in so many ways. Be it in terms of Stardom, Roles she chose, Paycheque she got, she got more than even Rajnikant at one point of time, she did 300 films in 4 different languages. Films were named after her like Chandni. Roles were written for her. And she dominated the silverscreens for 3 decades. 50 out of her 54 years were as an Actor (baring the gap she took after her kids) - she spent over 35 yrs as a Leading Actor. And at age of 50 yrs, she gave a Super hit like English Vinglish n a Hit like Mom.

All this without tom toming about Feminism or How great she is or How much she struggled or How she carried the films without any male star. She did all of that without putting down anybody and continuing to be Humble. She called herself a student and that she feels like she is only starting out.

True Achievers stay Humble. The motormouth arrogant stars of today are not a patch on these Legends.
