A feature film based on the life of late Pakistani opposition leader Benazir Bhutto has been announced by a Karachi-based private production, in collaboration with renowned Indian filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt.

Distinguished Pakistani writer and poet Aqeel Ahmad Ruby will pen the script for the film, according to Skies Unlimited Films.

Aneela Khan, the producer of the production company, said that the film is to be completed in partnership with Bhatt, reports the Daily Times.

Bhutto was assassinated on Dec 27 during a suicide attack on a party rally in Rawalpindi's Liaquat Bagh area.

Initial reports said that Bhutto died while being taken to a hospital. At least 20 Pakistan People's Party (PPP) activists were also killed in the suicide attack.

Bhutto was buried in her ancestral home in the village of Garhi Khuda Bakhsh.
