Report against diljit dosanjh runs into controversy for hurting religi

Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh has run into
controversy days ahead of the release of his
movie, Welcome to New York. A case has
been registered against him in Mumbai and
Amritsar for hurting religious sentiments of
Sikhs through one of the songs he has sung
in the upcoming film.
Amritsar resident Jasjeet Singh filed a
criminal miscellaneous application in the
court of chief judicial magistrate against the
singing sensation for lending his voice to
the song, 'Pant Mein Gun'. According to the
petitioner, Dosanjh has disrespected the
Sikh community by his "actions". In his
petition, Singh has alleged that the lyrics of
the song go against the principles followed
by Sikhs, and the singer should have shown
respect towards the teachings of Sikhism
before singing the song. Pant Mein Gun has
been composed by Sajid Khan and Danish
Sabri, with Khan as a co-singer.
This is for the second time the movie has
got into trouble even before its release. Two
days ago, union minister Babul Supriyo
demanded 'Ishtehar' to be again dubbed in
another voice. The romantic number has
been sung by Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh
Ali Khan. The BJP leader questioned
producers roping in Pakistani artists in view
of mounting tension on the Indo-Pak
border, when there was no dearth of talent
in the Hindi film industry. He also targeted
another Pakistani singer Atif Aslam for a
number belted out by him in a recent
Salman Khan starrer.
Meanwhile, the Amritsar court has
scheduled the case for hearing on March 31.
No one from the production team of the
movie could be reached for comments.
Welcome to New York is directed by Chakri
Toleti and produced by Pooja Films and Wiz
Films. Starring Sonakshi Sinha and Dosanjh
in lead roles, it is slated for release on Friday.
