Akshay - Priyanka & Kareena's film - 'AITRAAZ' to get a sequel

"Aitraaz" is a 2004 film directed by Abbas-Mastan and produced by Subhash Ghaistarring Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra in the lead roles. While Akshay and Kareena played the role of a married couple in the film while, Priyanka played the major twist in the film by playing an antagonist in the film who falls in love with Akshay but, to make her career in a modelling industry dumps Akshay later marries an old and rich man played by Amrish Puri and finds her ex-boyfriend Akshay working in Puri's company. However, in spite of knowing that the actor is married, she traps him to be close to him to fulfil her sexual interest which turns out to be a sexual harassment on Akshay's character. However, it is this film that got Priyanka the Filmfare award for her best performance in a negative role and her brave choice of choosing a negative character so early in her career by breaking the norms has always been a talk of the town.

And now, according to a source in a leading tabloid, Subhash Ghai who produced the film back then is all set with the script of Aitraaz's sequel. Ghai has been working on the script for the last two years but the final draft was locked only last month. The notable director-producer wants to zero in on the cast and hopes to kick off the project by the end of the year. A new director will helm this movie and will be produced by Ghai.

"It's a new story with a new title. Subhash Ghai has already had a word with Priyanka Chopra and the two have discussed the film. She loves the idea of a sequel to a film which won her accolades for her performance in a negative role and is excited to feature in the second instalment of the franchise. She is keen to collaborate with Ghai again and has even told him that she will try working on her dates," adds the source.

However, the final meeting will be held once Priyanka is back in Mumbai after shooting for Quantico season 3.
