Seeing the shaadi sequence yest especially POoja being dressed up as a bride...the anticipation abt how she looks, abt herfears, sadness, happinesss..all those feelings that a bride xperiences at that moment is so beautifully captured...Aftr watching the show...i recollected sme of my moments ...which was a mishap of wrong timings😆 ...badluck 😆😆 n my anger!!...

15 days prior to my marraige...There was not even a single drop of water falling from the sky ...but my shaadi out of nowhere had a toofani baarish😆...n Voila the lights of my house went off exact to the time when my makeup n styling was abt to be started😆...As in the show...how the parlourwali was summoned...same way i was not allowed to even step out ... but she had come to dress me up😆...We had shifted to our new house 20 dys bac b4 my marraige...My DADS dream house basically n he was adamant that all my functions n bidaai was done from here..Being their eldest daughter ,thy too were stepping in the shoes of the new xperiences of abt hosting n conducting the shaadi ..as such we dont reside in India permamnently but v visited always once in 2 yrs for vacation...SO for them everything was also newfrom being the parentsof the bride to the adjustmnts n ontop too mny respinsibilities on hand...The irony is that in all this BHAGAM bhagi...shifting to a new house n my wedding preparations...The generator slipped off from my Dads dimag😆...But the ladies of the house kept consoling us it wud b back in no time...as lights generally didnt go in our area n if it did,it wud be bac soon...There was lot of commotion that day aseveryone was running here n thre in being dressed up in dark with minimal lighting😆.Some ELDERLY LADIES had time to gossip too😆😆.Jaise taise my makeup was done in candles n emergency light😆...But my curly hair which needed blowdry n proper setting was a big mess...Smehow the parlour lady did a halfhearted task with no electrucity...she did watever she cud...But my anger was so high that day i was raging with gaalis n curses😆😆..i shouted at my Mom for not allowing me to go to parlour...😆.Even the elders who always knew me the most docile n shy ones saw my DURGA ROOP TAT DAY...My Mom tried to calm me down n my sisters was like Hell atleast u look like a bride KAISE BI n u hve to sit in one placing bowing ur head down...how does it matter 😆😆but look at us...we dnt hve anything to start n end with😆...They being the fashion freaks were agitiated more than me...Who will luk at them???🤣My DAD was in the function hall n he kept on calling that i needed to b at the venue sharp by 730 as the Nikkah time was set...I got delayed by an hr...The constant calls made by the Men of my house was so insane that the DULHA had arrived n so did the Priest... i had to rush in an unsatisfied way with my aunts ...jus to sign the marraigable contract😆...I still remember i called my Mom from downstairs announcing that im leaving to the HALL...come to Shaadi soon😆 n she cme rushing downstairs kissing me to the doorway promising that she will be there in no time n lecturing me her DOS n DONTS in not mkng faces infront of sasuralwale n ppl out thre as i was in a bad temper...i called on my sisters but they were no to b seen amidst the crowd in the dark house...😆 i was the first bride annoucing to the whole packed crowd ...HELL IM GOING. N LEAVING...😆 Atleast Luk at me...😆😆...BY the time u guys reach to the venue..I wud be MRS then...but kisiko meri padhi hi nahi thi...😆..Due to sudden light off ..my mom n my sisters had to mke sure the guests left before them ...as they had the whole house on their responsibility...Tis had cause lot of disorganization n delay ...Despite having 4 helpers n a watchman...everything was in a state of disarray for 2 hrs...😆
N when i sat in the car giving the last look to my dark pitch house n locality ..The rain was pouring in n in n i was feeling suffocated n dissapointed with the heavy dress, jewellery n with the baarish ,with my temperament... praying WHY it is happening today ...😆😆.THE decoration lights of the house suddenly dazzled n everything flashed n lighted infront of my eyes😆...I was jus fuming n fuming n my aunts who were beside me were giggling at my fate 😆😆cos tis was not tge first time ...The day when my sasuralwale had cme to see me for the first time n that too at my NANAS house...the moment i stepped infront of them...the lights went off n thy saw me ,interacted me in the presence of candles...N went thy left...Lights cme bac😆...So similar to that situation...the car bursted in laughter recalling that moment how i had a connection with lights n owing to the bad timings...😆!!Now with the venue n mkeup story was also another big tale...vich i dnt want to recall ...😆😆 but tis moment was smething that i cnt even forget in my wildest .dreams...
The first kid is always n epitome of an xperiment😆 n i had numerous counts of my life on those terms...Trust me aftr my shaadi..my Dad got installed 2 generators at home ...n my 3 sisters who r also happily married now nvr had to resort to generator issues at tgeir wedding or mishap mkeup n styling! Thy always recall mine n ThankGOD that thy nvr had to face such a horrible state in being a bride in such a situation!

Tis is smething i wanted to share with my forumwasis aftr seeing Pooja yest ..n im sure mny of u do hve some memories related to ur marraige n the ones who r not married or are being state in...Please tke in the xperiences n follow the rite DOs n DONTS 😆😆

Ok Saturday here...So made A topic with mny feels n with love...Jus pour in urs...anything that u can recount...recollect !

Ps...ASANSKAARI TALKS not entertained😆😆

Wow..What an incident👏👏 Dramatic life incident I must say.😆
Though not married have attended weddings much.Have district of relatives and my mother being the 'Mother Teresa' of our house tries mending and maintaining all possible relations.
However one interesting event that happened during my cousin sister's wedding on which still we all laugh and I and my Jijaji feel bit embarrassed.😆

My Di had a love marriage after hell lot problems and tensions. And my Jiaji is a gem.😳 On their wedding day,my Di asked me to wear the Saree because she was the only one among the unmarried bunch wearing a Saree. And all other were kids to wear a Saree and manage it.I never like wearing Saree because I look fat more and also I trip much. But she wanted a company so wore it.It was net saree and I had difficulty in handling the pallu and the pleats.Saara mazaa kharab hone wala tha.But anything for sis.😳

Then we have a ritual called ''Hasta ganthi phita" which means bride and groom will keep their palms on each other and it will be tied with flower garlands. And then sister of bride would demand somegifts or cash to open the knot of garlands. In her wedding, another elder Di was assigned to do the opening knot ceremony. But she left because she had exams next day and baraat arrived late.
Then came my turn.So I was happy and over excited.
Others were advising me to ask for mobile phone and cash and all other but my Di was signalling me from under the ghunghat not to trouble Jijaji.😆
I also didn't want to trouble but bad luck it would have been..I tripped and fell nearly on him.Blame it on my clumsiness or that saree. He immediately held my wrist and made me steady. His brother shouted that he got ''adha gharwali''😆
And our Jijaji is 'Bholuram''.😆 His bhabhi passed him the gold ring to give me as present to open the knot.He went ahead and made me wear the ring.
Satyanash!😆

My sister was literally fuming with all these drama. She instantly spoke up shedding all her bridal coyness--"Whose wedding is going on?.You wait." to my bechara Jijaji.
Jijaji there itself on mandap--'I am waiting''.😆 He just blurted out and then realised 😆
I didn't show my face on mandap because was tagged officialy as ''engaged to my Jijaji'' because later I found he in haste has made me wear the ring in my left hand ring finger.
I didn't know how to react..😕

Then cried buckets during her vidaai and Jijaji another mistake ---
Said--I LOVE YOU to me.My sister instantly stopped crying and made a face at Jijaji.
Jijaji spoke up again infront of all--Okay I hate you.
My mom was like what I did that he hates me on wedding day itself.😆 Then she thought that the mandap fiasco may be.She asked me ask forgiveness from my Jijaji.

I told I would do that later and ran from there.
Oh god! Still we laugh on that day's incident.😆😆

Meher, it was so good of you to share your memories. Can imagine how you must have felt at that time but then what fun without an adventure 😊
For me Samaina's story is too close because mine is also a love marriage. Not sadly from school but I met my hubby at work. With no phone at that time & with all restrictions, bahuth pappad bele hai pyaar keliye. Whenever I see the phone calls, I remember all the wrong calls I used to take on my landline & my mom used to ask me how come whenever you take it is a wrong call & when I take, no one talks & cuts the call 😆 So for me Samaina has to be the end game..it is too much close to my heart like as if I am living through the hard times which I went through to get married to the person I love. It took 8 yrs to convince our parents that we are right for each other.

Electricity has been a major issue un dino...kabhi bhi kahi bhi bijlee chali jaati thi...

The best part about this forum is people can freely share their stories here as they find things in the show pretty relatable...thank you for doing so...it was good to read such a memorable incident

PS: how are you now? Hope you are doing well...

LOL Mehraan and Minu your stories are epic man!
once when it was my cousin sister's wedding it started raining so heavily in the morning that the tent they put outside their house literally got ruined, I don't have any good stories to tell as my family weddings are most boring ones the best part is only that I meet my friends which only come at weddings but yeah I do have something to say is that when yesterday pooja started feeling scared scene it made me very emotional and made me think about my wedding which will happen maybe 15 - 20 years later I would feel so sad as I'm so close to my family just like them.

Ok I have one wedding incident ...but I remember only bits of it ...you all can relate with the fact that 90s kids were made to wear amazingly funny clothes by their parents ...bhalu dress of Naina had always made me laugh because it is relatable to us ...90s kids definitely had minimum one funny dress in their wardrobe which their parents have bought for them ...

Ok so in my maternal cousin's wedding...it was in a small town called Dhule...I was in 6th or 7th grade ...my mom being the typical 90s one embarrassed me for my dress not once but twice...during the mehendi ceremony I had worn a salwar-kurta which was a simple one...but that was fine cause just like Preeti I don't like the smell of mehendi...I remember adamantly telling the mehendiwali that the design on my hand should be strictly Arabic mehendi and only till my palms...not to extend it till my forearms and arms😆...Ok so I was anyway not much interested in that day, so the dress didn't matter😆
Now the next day of ring ceremony...Those days being from a city had a different status in other small towns...Being from Mumbai was a big thing as it was a big city, being from Pune was a less big thing as it was a small city...While packing my mom thought that kids from Mumbai will be there who will be dressed really cool, so I will make my daughter also wear something different..don't know what made her do so😆...And here I'm wearing a jazzy top and dark grey pants in the ring ceremony... mostly the kids were all guys...only one or two girls were there and they all were in traditional clothing...I was so embarrassed by my dress after looking at all the girls that I preferred standing next to the guys during the ceremony😆
And now the wedding...Someone had gifted us a very beautiful dress material sometime back...it was this amazing red color, with beautiful net and satin ...it was actually a 3-4 layered dressed material...perfect for a gown or knee-length one-piece...A desi dress out of it would have ruined the material...I actually loved the material but obviously didn't imagine myself wearing it a typical Indian wedding...But my mom ...that's where the fun part starts...she got a gown stitched for me for the wedding of that material ...all of the people are in superb traditional clothes...all kids in ghaghra-choli, or punjabi suits...all adults obviously properly traditionally dressed...but me looking like a descendent of Queen Elizabeth. Looked like I have come straight from a ball room dance of Lagaan movie. This was my outfit for the main reception. Through out the reception I cribbed to my mom and my mom is like will you shut up ...you are looking good and different from others😆. One point she was so irritated with my cribbing that she was about to slap me but my Nani stopped her, then I got scared and didn't trouble her...😆
Last year when I visited my Uncle's place, we were looking at the old photos of the wedding...and in every photo I'm not smiling because I didn't feel like wearing that gown...My Mami asked me why aren't you smiling in any of the pics and I said because I was angry with my looks😆...it was a gown so I didn't even wear any piece of jewellery...

But yes I still have that dress..the quality is still intact...Infact I was so embarrassed with it that after that wedding I never wore it again...I still crib for that dress...I even showed her the episode of Naina's bhalu dress to my mom in order to make her understand how we 90s kids were sometimes made to do funny things by our parents😆

Looking at Naina's bhalu dress episode I took out that dress from our old closet...Now I'm planning to do something out of it..will have to ask the tailor if anything can be made out of it😆
