Part 1-
I had yet another idea, which really I wish I didn't because as soon as I do I always have to write. Either way, this story is very different from my usual, and I hope you all will enjoy! Take it as a late Valentine's day gift!
Much love x
Every year on the 16th of February there was a ball, the Sheikh would arrive and pick a bride, yet 7 years had gone by since the Sheikh had his first ball and no one had caught his eye, up until today.
Today one girl had caught his eye, one girl and one girl only and her name was ...
--------------------------
In this small city in Arab, the amount of women in comparison to men was slim, so every year the richest men got a chance to pick a woman they would wish to marry, and if the woman agreed then the man would marry them the next day.
The Sheikh of course always got first choice, but never had a woman caught his eye until now.
Avni stepped onto the stage. She was dressed in a midnight blue dress, trailing all the way down to the floor, her eyes twinkled brighter than the stars and pulled the Sheikh toward her, so much so he stood up and smiled "Shes the one, the one I want"
Avni looked up, not expecting anyone to pick her on her first night at the ball, least of all the Sheikh.
He outstretched his hand to her and she rested her hand in his, unable to look away from his intense gaze.
Tugging her into his chest he lowered his head and rested his nose in her hair, her back stiffened as he pressed a kiss to her hair and tucked an unruly strand of hair behind her hair that had fallen from her hairband "Habibi"
The word he uttered honeyed and sincere making a slow shiver travel down her spine "Do you agree to this relationship" he asked, his eyes following hers, his forefinger under her chin, yet again trapping her in his gaze.
"Yes" she let out breathily
The crowd around them clapped and cheered
"Where is your family, I must speak to them"
Avni froze, would the Sheikh still want her when she had no family to bring to this union
"I am an orphan" she looked away, as if embarassed
Turning her to face him he shook his head "Do not feel ashamed, my family is yours now"
Avni looked down at her hand still in his warm, soft grip and nodded, following him to the foyer
"Ma ismik"
Avni frowned and shook her head
"You dont understand Arabic"
Avni shook her head again "Hindi or English"
"So how long have you lived here"
Avni gulped "Since birth, my carer only taught me Hindi and English"
The Sheikh nodded "I asked what your name is"
"Avni, and yours"
"Neil" he whispered huskily "You are very beautiful"
She blushed and looked away from him
Tipping her chin he smiled "Dont ever look away from me"
She nodded and he smiled
Lowering himself he kissed her hand
"I will see you tomorrow for the wedding habibi"
He turned to his guards "Spread the word" he looked back at Avni "I have chosen my bride"
--------------------------
The zaffa (wedding marchers) consisting of musicians and dancers had finally arrived at the hall of marriage the next afternoon.
Avni and Neil sat down in the kosha and the drink was passed around to the guests
A few minutes passed before the rings were moved from right hand to left index finger and as quickly as it had started, the couple were declared married
Neil stood up, outstretching his hand to Avni and pulled her up, he pulled her closer and smiled at the crowd, Avni noted how his aftershave was both musky and spicy. Avni closed her eyes, leaning on his shoulder, being brought up in this small town had ensured that marriage was an utmost priority for her, but she struggled to understand how someone like Neil could ever work with someone like her.
