I guess the 2nd one is the case here. Padmaavat was already having high buzz due to controversies plus SLB-RS-DP trio's previous success. It had all chances of going 150+ even with the clash and he already knew what they did to Dilwale.
On the other hand, Akki's all movies earns around 100-125 cr and a clash to a Biggie means even that will become impossible. Also the advantage of Republic Day is just 1 day which is way less than the disadvantage of clashing with PV.
So, it was a pure calculative move for HIS own Movie but he acted as if he postponed it just for Padmaavat to get a Solo-Release. And Since SLB was getting a clear path in all this, he too sang praises for him !!
I would end with one last Question - If he is so concerned about other Movies, Why did he chose to Clash (Again) with Aiyaary when there was NO HOLIDAY ??
