There really isn't an established order of the Mahavidyas. They are arranged from the most ferocious to the most benevolent (Kali to Kamala), but that isn't a necessary measurement to follow. Otherwise, Tara would have manifested before Tripura Sundari.
Dhumavati appearing after Mhalsa seems a bit strange, if only because Shiva and Parvati will marry again. I don't know if they'll give both a respite before hurtling them toward sorrow (again). That said, I do hope Dhumavati appears soon! Chinnamastika was presented beautifully; Dhumavati is bound to be just as incredible.

@siya19: The costume design never fails to impress! Part of it is Pooja; I'm beginning to think she looks good in anything.
I do agree that Chinnamastika was toned down. Then again, her iconography is so radical and evocative, it's impossible to depict unless the network is HBO 😛 What's interesting, though, is she looked more like the Buddhist goddess Chinnamunda. Both are identical except Chinnamastika stands on a fornicating couple (Kama-Rati or Krishna-Radha).

The serial has done its best to stay true to Shakta canon, which is really commendable. Shakta canon emphasizes Tantra and is often drastically different from Vaishnavite or Shaivite canon (more sexually liberal, for example). Hopefully this starts a trend of more goddess-centric mythological serials. Although I don't think anything can compete with Mahakaali! 😃

Dhumavati Avtaar happens in between Mahalsa and Martand avtaar; she regains her Identity but her vardaan to Mani comes in between them all over again which forces her to attack Mahadev; it happens unintentionally and in a split of second. It will be heart-wrenching :(

I am okay with toning down the iconography of chinnamsta, but it looks like they just squeezed the story in between two stories. As long as I know Chinnamasta has got no links with Malla and mani. They shud hv stick to the original story acc. to purana. As i said it is frst time for indian television( Hindi ) to show this Mahavidyas canon, whereas the Navadurga canon has been repeated again n again.
