Each and every corner of the college auditorium was decorated with flowers and balloons. The programme was monotonous, filled with long speeches by the principals and professors that almost lulled her to sleep and sitting in the front didn't really help. But the name Gurmeet filled her with excitement and joy and energized her to such an extent that she was able to stay awake through all those boring happenings.

"We are going to have one of the most talented, good looking and celebrated actors with us; the one ruling million hearts with his charm... "
Rachana took a deep breath to calm down her erratic heart. She was very sure that her heart was going to explode out of her mouth if it was going to keep on jumping and thumping like this.
"...The one and only GURMEET CHOUDHARY."
The sound of his name made her feel like millions of butterflies were tickling her stomach.
"Oh God! Calm down, calm down!" She chanted like a mantra but nothing was working. Her heart kept on racing as if it was going to take part in a marathon from the day she heard the news of Gurmeet Choudhary coming to her college to promote his film and take part in their prize distribution ceremony.
"This much of eagerness and excitement is just so middle class." Her Maya-Sarabhai-self tried to keep her excitement at bay but she still could not stop herself from blushing as the tall and handsome figure entered the hall. Applause and excited shouts filled the air. She was about to start shouting his name but fangirling and Rachana? Nah, it was never happening. She flicked her hair and tried to maintain her composure. But the beautiful voice of Gurmeet Chaudhary was way too tempting.
"Hello beautiful students, I am here to savor the little time I have with you all. Are you all excited?" Everyone shouted yes like a class one student but she just rolled her eyes instead. The man looks more handsome in 3D figure, she smiled to herself. And that smile of his along with his undeniable charm and irresistible eyes can bring any girl weak on her knees. She just could not stop herself from ogling at him.

The programme continued. Many students got prizes from Gurmeet, taking selfies, etc etc. TV actors ke sath photo kichwana is too much middle class, she reminded herself.
"The next prize, 'Maya Sarabhai of Batch 17', goes to Rachana. The prize is going to be presented to her by Mr. Choudhary", the anchor announced.
Rachana was completely delighted and nervous at the same time. The fangirl inside her wanted to scream with joy but maintaining her composure she walked to the stage like a model. Her heart throbbed as Gurmeet greeted her, held her hand and helped her up the stage. Blood rushed to her cheeks.
"Congratulations", said Gurmeet while giving her the memento. Millions of words ran inside her head but instead she smiled and shook hands with him only to get surprised with a small hug and a birthday wish.
"Happy Birthday Rachana. Hope your birthday brings a lot of joy in your life." The words from him almost made her blush but instead she smirked looking at the crowd full of jealous fangirls and flicked her hair. She wanted to say she was a huge fan of his but her Maya Sarabhai image was stopping her from doing so. She wanted to say it so bad that she was excited for his upcoming movie but it would be so contradictory with her image. She was one of the few lucky people who got the chance to speak with him.
Finally she decided, it was hard but worth abandoning her Maya Sarabhai principals this one time. "Thank you so much and I adored you as Maan in Geet hui sabse parayi and am a big big fan."
It was time, they shook hands and with the same Maya sarabhai image she got down the stairs back to her seat with the same gait she entered the stage, feeling immensely happy. It was probably the best birthday she could ever have had.
