~ ik ishq ka gham aafat aur uss pe ye dil aafat
Ya gham na diya hota ya dil na diya hota ~
Music and dance have been always been a medium of expression, to express oneself with a passionate intensity.
Kanak stands in his way, interrupting the procession, she wouldn't let go, she is drunk on her gham' she confesses that Uma is the bestest husband, a good human being, who is staunch on his dharm but doesn't take a moment to apologize if he realizes his mistake. In short Kanak gives an epic ode to Uma Shankar... it's for the first time she acknowledges her husband's name, she calls herself not Kanak Rathi But Kanak Umashankar Toshniwal - that alone should have been a wake up call for Uma, that this time Kanak has even given up her quest for her individual identity... Kanak confesses her love in front of the entire world, and starts dancing.
Uma is conflicted, harrowed and beaten down by the constant pressure to be with Kanak or to stand with his vachan, for a moment he is about to step down to stop Kanak from making a scene in front of the world, yet Massi stops his movement reminding him of the promise - the procession moves forward and Kanak is left behind - this is the apparent bleak future, that Uma is about to move on in life, and Kanak would be left behind alone.. she is drugged and staggered behind, watching and pleading Uma one last time. Uma gets off and takes her hand and brings her to a side only to announce that she is inebriated and she cannot enter the house - dude she is intoxicated out of her mind, she is creating a scene and you just left her outside with Gabbasa... at that moment to Uma was harsh and hard, it's not that he should have melted like wax and spread on her feet, but he could have made better efforts than just leaving her out like a commoner... - that's the result of his own vachan.. he had to move on in his life without or without his choice, but he moved on and he left her behind initially and despite her efforts, he took her by hand and took her to the door and left her alone.
He walks into the house, it's his house yet he walks with a certain hesitancy, there is a silence prevalent - that is his life, his future empty like that hall without Kanak. He remembers her words, her confession of love, yet he walks and sits. He sits with determination, he understands the silence around him, the hung faces but he is resisting - I wonder how exactly would he be fulfilling his dharm when he is not interested, his family is not happy, it's not that things should be molded as per convenience but why can't he look beyond his words... he is affected by Kanak, he loves her to an eternity yet he is still sitting there.
While Kanak has been kidnapped as per Aditya's plan.. he was the one who drugged her.
Ps- loved the way Suman stood up to Palomi, it's the bitter truth of life... one cannot make ones own castles on the ashes of someone else's world... the victory would only be momentary but the reality of suffering would be for a life time... a person can only be bitter by the constant rejection, the feeling of not being good enough gnaws at the soul and feeds the monster of hate - Palomi thinks that she is going to own Uma and with time everything would be alright, she has done so much seva for him - Palomi's understanding is one dimensional, a regressive mindset that the man matters, not his heart or mind.
