The Sangini Indian Telly Awards, launched in 2001, is being held at Chitrakut Grounds, New Link Road, on Nov 19. The awards are to be given away to TV personalities and programmes that have done well in the period from Jan 2003 to June 2004.
"These awards are about celebrating excellence and we want to celebrate the performance of our TV stars in style. It is our way of saying thank you to them," says Lokhandwala resident Anil Wanvari, who founded the awards.
Other than regular awards, the evening will also include a big idea award and the lifetime contribution to television award, which will be presented to Dr Ramanand Sagar, the man behind shows like Ramayan and Vikram Aur Betaal.
The awards night will have performances from around 48 TV artistes including Rajeev Khandelwal, Amna Shariff, Akashdeep Sehgal, Shabbir Ahluwalia, Shama Sikander and Gurdeep Kohli among others.
