I am actually 100% on Kali's/Satya's mom's side here actually.
I don't know if you have seen the previous episodes but for me two things stand out- Leela is a horrifying psychopath while Satya is someone who needs to be taken in hand otherwise he might end up being exactly like Leela.
Let us start with Leela.
- Leela is a woman who killed an entire family of women for revenge. And showed NO signs of remorse. That's psychopath behaviour right there.
- Next chota Satya(when he was a little boy) picks a fight with another kid anad when he inevitably ends up getting backlash for it, Leela's response is to kill the girl. Yes, you heard that right-KILL a kid because your kid grandson got into a fight with her. Satya's mother was the one who tried to save that child.
- Leela sends her assassin to kill Susheel during Satya's cousins wedding simply because she didn't like Susheel.
- She makes it very clear to Satya that even tough she loves him, if any family member crosses her, she will start adopting the same attitude to them. So her love for family will exist only as long as THEY OBEY HER. You can see that in the way she treats every one of them, except Satya and her daughter. She looks at them as nothing more than her slaves.
Let us take Satya next. Satya has been deliberately kept apart from his mother by Leela. If you see the previous episodes , every time Satya's mother has tried to teach chota kid Satya morals, Leela has blasted her and dragged Satya away from her. With the result that Satya has become dangerously like Leela, without morals or conscience although he doesn't have that murderous tendency yet.
Compare. Leela would do anything to win. In the first episode of grown-up Satya and Susheel, he gets beaten by Susheel in the matki-thod competition. But instead of accepting his defeat gracefully, he goes to the lengths of stealing the trophy from Susheel's house just because he can't accept that he won second place
.
Leela decides to kill a whole group of people to get her revenge on someone else.Satya decides to steal to get what he wants.See the similarity?
Next Satya sees Susheel at his cousin's wedding. Scared that she might end up blurting the truth about the trophy to someone and annoyed that she won't worship him, he STEALS his cousin's engagement ring and plants it in Susheel's bag just to brand her as a thief. Think about that.
He takes Leela's help to brand someone as a thief falsely just to get that person to leave.
So both show a willingness to humiliate and destroy people just to get what they want.
Luckily Susheel is able to exonerate herself though Satya's mother is the one who later apologizes to her for the insult. Not Satya.
Then the bet. He bets on breaking her heart because she humiliated him by showing everyone that HE was the real thief . So he wants to break someone emotionally as revenge because she exposed his actions. Again a Leela trait- Doesn't take responsibility for his actions and has no restraints when it comes to hurting people to get your own way. And a very vengeful personality to the boot.
You raised two points
1. Kali blaming Satya- That's because so far Satya has always been in the wrong. Every interaction with Susheel, Satya has been the one to attack her verbally or in other ways. And he has never taken responsibility for his actions. During the wedding,he tried to search Susheel for the missing ring by first placing his hand on her in an insulting fashion. Satya's mother was the one who stopped that. That's why she asked what happened first now because she knows her son's character very well.
Even today, he saved Susheel only because of the bet and not because of the natural human instinct to protect.
2. Kali not teaching Satya morals-- Simple. Because Leela has never allowed Kali to be a mother to Satya. She has overruled Kali on every decision concerning Satya since childhood, filled his head with a lot of nonsense and made no secret of her dislike for Kali. My guess is ,Satya's animosity towards his mother has been carefully fostered by leela herself. The only thing Kali could have done more is to leave that house with Satya and even provided her husband would have been willing, Leela would have no hesitation in murdering her off. That seems to be Leela's standard response to everything.
In my opinion what little morality Satya has, is because of his mother otherwise he would have been an out-and-out criminal by now.Kali knows what her mother-in-law is capable of and what her son is becoming and tries to discipline him in an effort to stop his character from being utterly ruined. But she can't do much because she is thwarted at every step by Leela. Irony is, Leela is ruining Satya's life by warping his character.
I can't wait for Susheel and Kali to show him his failings and why Leela is the real villain here.
Its actually a common situation in rural and underprivileged areas. I do a little bit of NGO work and you would be surprised by how many cases there are of regressive leaders in society like Panchayat members and ghar ki badon brainwashing their young children(men>women) that its okay to behave this way. When you ask them why-Their answer is 'that's the way it has always been'. Its why there is such a high prevalence of misogyny and sex-related crimes in India. Progressives can do very little in face of such hard-headed opposition. Look at khap panchayats for example.
Sorry for the long post😳. It's an issue I feel strongly about- to blame working women for their sons failings and ignore the real misogynistic, horrifying culture that has led to this- for me it is simply unacceptable.
Kudos to Namish Taneja, Kavita Vaid and all the other amazing actors for making their roles so believable.
Oh and welcome to the forum!😊🤗
