Unfortunately his birthday fell around the same time of Shashi Kapoor's death. So a lot of stars opted to attend the last rights of Shashi Kapoor ji... and during times like these it's not appropriate to attend the last rites & then celebrate a birthday. Sometimes we have to chose not to celebrate one year if things happen unexpectedly... I completely understand this wholeheartedly because I lost my dadi on the day before by birthday and I lost my dada on the day of my birthday. :( It sucks, but it is what it is.

Respect for all those people who decided to pay their last respects to Shashi Kapoor ji instead of partying.
