Writt update feb 07 ‘08: Farewell Gurukul

Gurukul

It is night and Ram goes to Vashist who is sleeping. He starts to massage his feet. Gurudev wakes up and asks Ram what he is doing and that he has to sleep. Ram answers that Gurudev should not stop him in doing this. He gets the same peace doing this for Gurudev as by doing it for his father.

Gurudev asks if he thinks a lot of King Dasarath. Ram answers that he is. And whenever his brothers are thinking of home they seek comfort in Ram, but he is little too and sometimes he needs comfort too. Gurudev answers that everyone on this earth is born with some reason or task. Ram is, and even Gurudev is. Ram asks if Gurudev knows what task he is born with and Gurudev answers that he is born to give Ram education an make him a sensible person.

Sunrise

Gurumata is performing a pooja and the brothers walk towards her with flowers and fruit. Gurumata looks at them and starts crying. The brothers ask what happened and if they made her cry, if so she should punish them. Gurumata answers that she is thinkg of the fact that they are almost finished with their studies and they will go away. She will not see them anymore and will not hear them call her Gurumata. She says that she reminds a saying of Gurudev: That people only meet each other to say goodbye. She starts crying and runs into her cottage.

Ayodhya

The king is thinking when his queens enter his room. They complain about missing the children. Dasarath says that they can be happy; the Rajkumars are returning soon. The queens get excited and happy. Kausalya says that mu children are returning: Dasarath says that they will not be children anymore but young men. Sumitra ask worriedly how they will recognize them. Kausalya says that she cannot wait and every day their return will be celebrated. Dasarath answers that they have to be patient till then.

Gurukul

The Rajkumars are sitting and thinking of going home. Lakhsman says that they were children when they came and now they are all grown up. Ram says that for their mothers they are still children. Shatrugha answers that when he sees the mothers he will tell them to sing a lullaby. Bharat asks what about father? Shatrughna answers that he will hug his father.

Ayodhya

The king is sitting and the queens rush in saying that the maid has told them that someone came from Gurukul. It is a rishi who came to tell that the studies of the boys have finished and that they will return. The queens ask him that why he did not take the Rajkumars with him. Dasarath answers that they cannot return before they have their royal uniforms and the rishi came to get that for them. Kausalya says that the king has to send the clothes very soon, so that that the Rajkumars will return soon.

Gurukul

Gurdev tells them that it is their last day. He tell sthem that he knows they will use everything they learned in their life. He says that they have to repay the God, their parents and their Guru. By praying and thinking of God they will repay God. By respecting and honoring their parents they will repay their parents. And by doing good deeds for the people they will repay their Guru. That is Gurudevs Gurudakshina.

After that arye Sumanth appears. Gurudev tells the brothers that Sumanth came to fetch the boys. Sumath asks Gurudev permission to bring the boys back home. The brothers say goodbye to Gurudev and Ram thakns him for sharing his knowledge with them. Gurudev blesses him.

The Rajkumars are ready and they want to say goodbye to Gurumata. She is crying and says that they should go as she cannot say goodbye. She says that maybe their Gurudev is hard but she is not. Ram walks towards her and says that he is thankful for everything. Their mothers gave them birth but she has given them the world. Their mothers seeded them, but she raised them. She teaches them to become great but not cruel. He asks her blessing and she gives it to them. The Rajkumars say goodbye to the other students and they step out of Gurukul. Episode ends
