Ok I have a question about the Gajasur epi. I already asked this question, but I think in the wrong thread.

I have read various stories and heard various stories about Gajasur, but none where it is Gajasur's head for replacing Vinayak's. There were no comments on this story - so I figured that this story or some form of it must exist somewhere.

I understand that Gajasur voluntarily donating his head is a vehicle used to keep in step with the animal rights views of the present time. No problem with that.

The thing is from what I understood, Gajasur has a boon that he will live with Mahadev and attain great wisdom (did I understand the dialogues correctly - sometimes I get lost). If that is the case, then when Mahadev revives Vinayak :

1. Is it the body of Vinayak and the head + soul of Gajasur
Because if Gajasur has to stay with Mahadev then it should be his soul;
but then what about Parvati's son Vinayak
2. Is it the body & soul of Vinayak and the head of Gajasur
- in this case what of Gajasur's boon

Please don't laugh at me. I know I sometimes ask strange questions

Respect does indeed go both ways. No one in this thread has accused the other of spreading negativity. If you are able to share your opinions, so are we. We haven't labelled your opinions wrong. Why? Because you are not wrong. Your opinions are legitimate; all of our opinions are legitimate.

I think if I can praise the members here for maintaining their faith in the scriptures, and sharing the canonical myths on this forum so that anyone who is interested can learn from the true sources; I can also comment repeatedly on things which are not good against my PoV.

It indeed works both ways.

Please don't think I'm attacking you or mocking you. I'm just a little frustrated because I have no idea where this perceived negativity originated from. If you are able to explain why the serial is deviating from canon, I can explain why that isn't a problem. There are many threads on why deviation shouldn't be ignored. Why is it that we then cannot post threads on why the deviation isn't so bad?

@Maleficarum

No issue with your posts dear. In fact, actually enjoy them -as they are interesting to read.
I am sure those who share my angst in this forum also feel the same way.

Read my posts, they are not in reply to yours.

I think we need to cut talk on this subject, not encouraged in the forum. And rightly so.

Oh wow, guess who suddenly feels like the biggest idiot! I'm so sorry if I came across as rude or impolite. I definitely got a bit defensive, and that's entirely my fault.
Not all the members agree on everything, but everyone puts forth really great and insightful opinions. I just really hope we all can discuss rather than debate or argue. For example, it's great to know we all aren't impressed with the VFX 😛. I watched the Mahakali episode of Shani, and they didn't even try to clean up the VFX. The fire and flames weren't even moving half the time.

As for my name! It's inspired by the Salem Witch Trials. There wss a "rulebook" on witchcraft written by some European clergymen: the Malleus Maleficarum. It translates as "Hammer of the Witches". It's definitely one of the dumbest, most pathetic books ever published; it's blatantly sexist, ignorant, and honestly insane. "Maleficarum" loosely translates to "dark magic". I guess it's sort of inspired by the people who were persecuted just for being "different". Well, that and I love the word itself!

Sorry for the long winded explanation; it's one of my favourite things to talk about.

I totally agree with both of your views. I guess it's something that we watch the show for only the 'entertainment' purpose. That doesn't mean that we don't have any knowledge regarding the scriptures. I strongly agree with your take on Parvati and her humanly mother that she depicted in this week's episodes.I still in no way understand that why is it completely wrong to let the mother in you become more dominant just once ?! Thank you for speaking out your opinion here !!

@rsnarula67

Sorry friend !! I didn't mean to go out of the way and hurt anyone here. I don't have a personal issue with none here. If my words have hurt you then I apologise.

Maybe because I'm just done with this circulating negativity here. I mean sometimes it is not necessary that every person sees the situation through the same viewpoint. I understand that opinions differ, and that is why I stood against some of the statements made here, which were right away stated as 'facts' ?! Parvati and the mother in her were right away proven as wrong depiction and I couldn't stand it. But I was against the statement, not you anyone here, dear.

I myself don't like the VFX this time. Infact while watching the initial episodes, I was shocked to see that the Swastik Production has produced such bad VFX. I am openly criticising it. Because even I feel that it has to be criticised.

But then at the same time, I appreciate the costume designers and the hair stylists for presenting all the actors in such wonderful get-ups time and again, special mention for Parvati and all her beautiful avatars ! Yes, I love Lakshmi's get-up too...I find it very vibrant and pure. But then I know most of you wouldn't agree and that's fine. Just because it is all your call.

I repeat, I'm not here to hurt anyone's feelings.

Hello Reena
Sorry for responding late. As per Shiv Maha Puran Vinayak was beheaded in Kumarakhanda Rudra Samhita...There was no mention of Gajasur's head getting attached to Ganesh's body. They go to northern direction and bring the elephant head.

Gajasur story is in Yuddha Khanda Rudra Samhita.When Siva pierces him with Trishul Gajasur requests him to wear his skin as his garment after his death. That is his wish. Siva agrees to that.

May be other sources had this version of Gajasur's head attached to Ganesh's body...

I will check and confirm.

I just shared my doubt as to who is elder in another post, found everybody discussing it here. I don't know much about scripture but coming from TN and going by the popular belief here Lord Ganesha is elder and he is not married while Lord Muruga or Karthikeyan is younger and is married to Valli and Devasena. And moreover the competetion was for divine fruit and not as to who is getting married first. That's why I was shocked when they showed lord Karthikeyan as elder. Somewhere I have feeling that all the serials show lord Karthikeyan as some god with less importance whereas for us he is the supreme Lord and we call out to Him for anything and everything. These serials don't do justice to the divinity of Lord Muruga, just my opinion.
