At home during the night, Naina was lying on bed melancholously thinking about him and how he behaved with her. He didn't even bother to see her present...how could he do this? She kept on trying to figure out the answers to her questions but was unable to do that today. It was so surprising for her that a girl who easily solved all the questions in her exams wasn't able to understand a person and his behaviour today...all these thoughts were making her restless and sleep was far away from her eyes today. Just then she heard meow...she ignored it for the first time...few seconds later again she heard...meow...

Naina: itni raat ko yeh billi kahan se aa gayi?

Meow...this time she couldn't avoid and she went out thinking maybe a cat needs some milk ...she went out to the balcony and was astonished to see Sameer hanging at the balcony with his hand towards her to help him in.

Naina: tum...tum yahan kaise...tum yahan is waqt kyun aaye?

Sameer: tum sawal hi karti rahogi ya meri help bhi karogi? Pehle mujhe upar to lo...

Naina took her hand towards his...but stopped in between ...as she couldn't hold his hand...as yeh un dino ki baat hai when holding hands between a girl and a boy wasn't that common.

Sameer: kya kar rahi ho Naina...haath do na...

She pinched her eyes and held his hand and pulled him up and he entered the balcony. Naina kept on staring at him for some time. He clicked his fingers in front of her eyes to bring her out of her trance.

Naina: wo...tum...wo tum yahan kaise?

Sameer: kya karta main...tum itne dino se school nahi aayi to main kya karta? Aana pada mujhe...

Naina: par tumhe kya fark padta hai ki main aayi hu ya nahi...

Sameer: fark padta hai Naina...mujhe padta hai...tum us din mere liye gift laayi aur maine tumhare saath bahut bura behave kiya...mujhe baad mein realise hua jab...

Naina: jab?

Sameer: us din maine baad mein tumhara gift le liya tha...ghar jaate huye us din mera accident ho gaya tha...

Naina: kya???...tumhara accident...kab kahan kaise...

Sameer: shhh...dheere bolo... Arey kuch nahi hua tha...mujhe zyada chot nahi aayi thi...bas bike damage ho gayi thi...Nanu ne kaha ki kisi ki blessings ki wajah se meri jaan bach gayi...tumne mujhe apni Mom ke Ganpati Ji gift kiye the na...shayad usi wajah se ... Main tumhe sorry bolna chahta hu...I am very sorry Naina...tumhare baare mein maine bahut galat socha tha...

Naina had a sweet smile on her face on hearing this and she looked down ...

Sameer: tumne mujhe apni sabse keemti cheez gift mein di? Aisa kyun kiya tumne...main tumhare liye itna important hu kya?

Naina stood quiet just smiling to herself...

Sameer: batao na Naina...tumne jawab nahi diya...

Naina: wo main...

Preeti called from inside...Arey Naina...itni raat ko bahar kya kar rahi hai?

Naina (signalling him to hide himself): wo mujhe neend nahi aa rahi thi...to isliye...

Preeti: jaldi aakar so ja...nahi to tabiyat aur kharab ho jayegi...

Naina: haan bas aa rahi hu... Sameer tum is samay jaao yahan se...

Sameer: par tumne mere sawal ka jawab nahi diya...

Naina: wo sab baad mein...abhi tum jaao yahan se...

Sameer: par tum kal school aaogi na? aur tumne mujhe maaf kar diya na? (climbing down the balcony)

Naina: haan baba maaf kar diya...ab tum jao yahan se...kal school me milungi...

And she rushed inside after Sameer left from there smiling...

She was very happy tonight and she had a peaceful sleep after so many days today...next morning she woke up early and got ready to go to school. Chachaji was very happy to see that she is absolutely fine now. He was surprised to see her recover so fast...she went to school with Preeti and as she entered the class, all the students started making fun of her as she was missing for so many days. She was never a person who takes leave so easily and she had been missing for almost a week now. Swati tried to stop the guys teasing her but when they continued Sameer stood up and spoke sternly...

Sameer: yeh kya kar rahe ho tum sab...tumhe pata bhi hai ki wo kitni beemar thi ...bina jaane ki wo kyun nahi aayi...tum sab shuru hog aye use tang karne...bas karo ab...

Naina was so impressed to see him standing for her and supporting her. Everyone stopped teasing her and Naina went and sat on her seat. She looked at him and he responded with a smile to her and she too smiled. Munna and Pandit were shocked to see a changed Sameer but didn't say anything as the class teacher had come. After the period got over, they asked him...

Munna: yaar Sameer teri tabiyat to theek hai? yeh achanak tu aisi behki behki baatein kyun kar raha hai?

Pandit: tu aur us librarian ki ladki...us padaku Nain aka saath de raha hai jisne... bhai kuch to gadbad hai...zaroor us librarian ne tujhe dhamki di hogi school se nikalwa dene ki...tu apne Nanaji ko bata na.. wo tujhe nikalne nahi denge...tujhe kisi se darne ki zaroorat nahi hai...

Munna: tu kal raat usse milne jaane wala tha na... wahan to kuch aisa waisa nahi...

Sameer: tum dono kya kya bole ja rahe ho...apne dimaag ke ghode daudana band karo aur chup karke baitho...jo tum soch rahe ho aisa kuch nahi hai...

Pandit: to kaisa hai bhai...

He started singing...yeh duniya wale poochenge...mulakat hui...kya baat hui...

Sameer told them about the meeting at the balcony and both of them burst out laughing...Sameer told them to stay quiet and that he needed to make up for what he did with her now. During the lunch break Sameer met her near the water tap when she was having water. He went close and stood there. She was surprised to see him there.

Naina: tum yahan...koi dekhega to...

Sameer: dekhega to dekhne do...par main apne sawal ka jawab liye bins nahi jaaunga...

Naina: kaunsa sawaal?

Sameer: yehi ki tumne mujhe apni itni pyari cheez kyun gift me di? Main kya lagta hu tumhara?

Naina: wo isliye kyun ki mujhe laga ki tumhe meri wajah se daant padi thi aur maine bhi bina poori baat jaane tumhari shikayat kar di...aur tum mujhse baat nahi kar rahe the...

Sameer: to iska matlab hai ki main tumse baat na karu to tumhe fark padta hai...bolo Naina...tumhe fark padta hai na...

Naina: haan...mera matlab hai...nahi...actually...haan...hey bhagwan yeh kya kar rahi hai Naina...

Sameer: yeh kya haan na kar rahi ho...seedhe seedhe batao na...kya aaj se hum dono dost hain?

Naina: haan Sameer...mujhe tumse dosti karne mein khushi hogi...

Sameer forwarded his hand for a hand shake and said...so friends...Naina hesitantly held his hand and just smiled...and then saw Swati coming there.

Naina: arey Sameer mera haath chhodo Swati idhar hi aa rahi hai...

He left her hand and she went away to the class with Swati...this was the beginning of their new friendship...a new relationship between the two...

Ek naye rishte ki aaj shuruaat hui jo aage chalkar kitne utaar chadaav se hoke guzra...
