Not Katrina Kaif, Shraddha Kapoor to be Shahid's leading lady in Batti Gul Meter Chalu?

Well, it looks like we might have to wait for some more time to see Katrina Kaif and Shahid Kapoor in a movie again. There were reports that Katrina Kaif was approached by the makers of Batti Gul Meter Chalu to be the leading lady in the movie. It was said that Katrina Kaif was interested in the project, but the negotiations process was taking a long time to seal the deal. Now we hear that the makers are looking to replace her with Shraddha Kapoor.
As per a report in Mid-Day, a source close to the project revealed, "Negotiations with Shraddha are on. She is yet to give her nod. But, she should be able to work on it." It is interesting to note that Shraddha Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor had earlier worked in Vishal Bharadwaj's Haider, and both displayed an amazing chemistry in there. So their fans might glad to see them back together in this upcoming movie.
Meanwhile, there is another development with regards to the movie. Earlier it was touted to be a legal drama where the protagonist, played by Shahid Kapoor, would fight the corruption in the electricity board. But we now hear that the director Shree Narayan Singh wants to rewrite the draft of Batti Gul Meter Chalu to make it lighter and turn it into a satire a la his debut movie, Toilet - Ek Prem Katha. Well, no one can blame him for taking the tried-and-tested route that had worked well for him.
Earlier the director had talked about the project where he revealed what he plans to do with the subject. He had said, "The subject of the film is very relevant to our times. Diwali makes it just the right occasion for us to shed light on a subject that needs to be discussed. We look forward to making a film that is both commercially entertaining and encourages a social conversation."
Batti Gul Meter Chalu will release on August 31, 2018.
